Software Development Coordinator
Job Introduction: (Primary purpose of this position)
The scope of work is within Mercedes-Benz Cars as well as Mercedes-AMG for conventional, electrified and Hybrid powertrains in current development and Lifecycle-Management projects.
As a Software Development Coordinator, your main responsibility is to ensure the implementation of Software into production and the After-Sales.
The Software Development Coordinator role consists of the following major areas:
Plan, coordinate and support Powertrain Project activities by creating timelines and identifying critical deadlines.
Coordinate software and dataset changes with the responsible Engineers.
Maintaining detailed documentation of software and dataset changes.
Documentation of Software Part Numbers.
Support Software launches at the plants worldwide.
Support validation and testing activities.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
1) Project Planning and Support:
Create, maintain, and execute the V-Cycle master schedule respectively timeline in close collaboration with RD Germany, RD AMG, Certification, RD USA, Suppliers and Daimler production plants worldwide.
Synchronize Software releases with other powertrain controller such as engine, CPC, transmission, etc.
Create s software roll-out plan to support Powertrain Project activities according to the Mercedes-Benz Development System (MDS). This plan is essential to meet deadlines, which ensures an in-time release to the production plants.
Support Software Development activities throughout a V-Cycle.
Plan and track software release implementations. Ensure correct documentation for all production trial builds.
2) Release and Documentation:
Ensuring information flow from all stakeholders (e.g. calibration, car line, certification group, etc.) as required.
Maintaining detailed documentation in various Daimler specific tools, e.g. NCM, ACM and Dialog.
Monitor and document software/data changes.
Perform Flash test, basic software checks and release the software for series production
3) Validation:
Support Testing-V activities in collaboration with various stakeholders.
Coordinate the change management process of software and dataset updates.
Support vehicle validation activities and support other testing activities, e.g. HIL
Identify, maintain, and communicate all faults seen during the SW development and testing.
4) Software Planning:
Work with the Powertrain Project and other groups to determine number of releases, change contents and deadlines.
Create a variety of release scenarios to provide the powertrain project with flexibility.
Provide detailed analysis on consequences of different release scenarios.
Education & Experience
Required Qualifications
- Minimum level of education required and required field of study:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering
- Minimum skills required :
Demonstrate strong leadership skills in leading projects working with local and external teams from Daimler RD and suppliers.
Possess technical knowledge in product design, issue resolution, and product launches.
Strong knowledge of the Automotive Development System.
Work experience with of system engineering, product validation, statistical analysis, system & vehicle integration, and Design For Six Sigma (DFSS).
Strong project management skills including scheduling, critical path, trade-offs, recovery plans, value analysis and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
Ability to facilitate efforts for problem solving and lessons learned sessions
Well versed in quality tools and best practices including Key Performance Metrics (KPI), ISO standards, and the Product Development Quality Operating System.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Ability to monitor cost and drive for the best value equation.
Ability to create Risk Management Plan.
Proficient in all PC applications including Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Knowledge of powertrain calibration tools such as INCA is a plus.
Technical and analytical skills including systematic and critical thinking.
Work experience with project management tools including Gantt Chart, Project Tracking, Cause and Effect Diagrams, and Pareto Chart and Pareto Analysis
