At V2X, we are making a difference by delivering decision support tools critical for the protection of our forces when threatened by both physical and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, or Nuclear (CBRN) threats.

As a Senior Software Developer contracted to support the Integrated Early Warning of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Sensors project for the Department of Defense (DoD), you will lead the development of sophisticated software solutions critical to national security. Operating remotely, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, implement, and maintain software systems that provide timely and accurate detection, analysis, and response capabilities for CBRN threats. Your expertise in software development, cybersecurity, and defense technology will be essential in delivering innovative solutions that enhance early warning capabilities and protect military personnel and assets.

Responsibilities

Major Job Activities:

  • Leading the design and development of software systems for integrated early warning of CBRN sensors, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.

  • Collaborating with subject matter experts, scientists, and engineers to understand sensor technologies, data sources, and operational requirements.

  • Architecting software solutions that integrate disparate sensor data streams, perform real-time analysis, and provide actionable insights to decision-makers.

  • Developing high-performance, mission-critical software components using modern programming languages, frameworks, and technologies.

  • Implementing advanced algorithms and machine learning models for anomaly detection, pattern recognition, and threat classification.

  • Integrating cybersecurity controls and best practices into software designs, ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements and standards.

  • Participating in software testing, verification, and validation activities to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and effectiveness of deployed solutions.

  • Supporting fielding, delivery, and testing activities, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical support to ensure operational readiness.

  • Documenting software designs, development processes, and technical specifications for upload to project repositories and documentation platforms.

    Material & Equipment Directly Used:

    Computer, Phone, and basic office materials.

    Working Environment:

  • Function in an office environment in a stationary position approximately 50 percent of the time or more.

  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer, copy machine, and printer.

  • Must be able to travel to customer sites and test events.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.

Clearance Requirement:

Must have an active U.S. DoD Secret (or higher) level Security Clearance.

Experience / Skills:

  • Extensive experience in software development, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior-level role, preferably in a DoD or defense contracting environment.

  • Proficiency in modern programming languages, such as Java, C++, C#, Python, or similar, and experience with software development frameworks and tools.

  • Strong understanding of software design principles, architecture patterns, and best practices for building scalable, secure, and maintainable software systems.

  • Experience working in agile software development environments, with a focus on iterative development, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical challenges and develop innovative solutions.

  • Knowledge of DoD software development standards, including MIL-STD-498, DoD 5000 series, and DIACAP / RMF, is highly desirable.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders in a remote work environment.
