The Software Assurance Engineer Sr will support the ESHMA contract at Glenn Research Center (GRC) Safety, Mission Assurance Directorate and is responsible for Software Assurance expertise and complex electronics expertise to various microgravity research projects. Provide projects with training and facilitation in formal inspection, software safety, and Software Assurance support. Reviews project Software Assurance plans for adequacy and makes recommendations to various projects on how to implement and execute a successful Software Assurance program.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, researches, designs, implements, tests, and evaluates software and systems, in conjunction with hardware product development, that enable computers to perform their applications, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Participates in requirements reviews, code reviews, test plan reviews, design and test readiness reviews, audits, verifications, and oversight activities.
  • Provides mentoring and training to lower Software Assurance personnel on proper assurance methods and requirements.
  • Provides insight and recommendations based on expertise and standards.
  • Coordinates software safety, reliability, and verification activities for projects. Provide assistance, when necessary, to help assure mission success (e.g., by witnessing software tests and verifying compliance with software requirements).
  • Analyzes software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Review software impact analysis reports on suggested software changes for problem fixes and code enhancements.
  • Writes and reviews Software Assurance and Software Safety Plans for various projects across a wide spectrum of applications.
  • Consults with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of overall system.
  • Formulates and designs software system, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design. Develops and directs software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation.
  • Provides Software Assurance support for special projects, as requested, in accordance with NASA Software Assurance Standard NASA-STD-8739.8, NPR 7150.2 NASA Software Engineering Requirements.

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field.
  • Must have 8+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • Extensive understanding and experience in Safety Mission Assurance (SMA) disciplines; specifically, software development/Software Assurance/safety.

DESIRED:

  • Previous experience at NASA or other Federal Agencies is preferred.

WORK LOCATION:


  • Hybrid work environment. Located onsite at Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, OH.
  • Occasional travel is anticipated.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.


DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:

All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills.
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

SALARY RANGE:. $125,000 - $138, 300
