The Department of Psychiatry at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center offers a wide range of inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services for those with mental health needs.

Shift:

• Five days a week (Monday - Friday). Various Social Work departments.
• Shift schedule: 9:00 am – 5:30 pm; Holiday and weekend coverage is required on a rotating basis

Responsibilities:

• Conducts Biopsychosocial assessment through interviews with patient and/or family collateral to gather pertinent information regarding their level of functioning.
• Collaborate with other professional discipline to evaluate patient’s progress and develop aftercare plan to address the presenting problems and ensures patient-centered quality care.
• Act as an advocate for patients and family to resolve crises and provide appropriate intervention and support.
• Refer patients to appropriate community agencies for continuity of care.
• Ability to be cross-trained in multiple areas.

Requirements:

• New York State Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required.
• Hospital/Medical experience preferred but new grads are welcome to apply
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Exceptional interpersonal skills; superb written and oral communication skills
• Knowledge of community-based organizations and resources for discharge planning
• Strong crisis intervention and short-term counseling skills
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced work environment

Salary: $36.0418-$48.7400, DOE. Full Local 1199 Benefits.
