- Case management networking experience preferred
- MSW (LSW OR LCSW) preferred from an accredited University
- Must have DOE Certification or have applied this yearDESCRIPTION: - Assist the administration and/or parents in obtaining information about procedures and practices for intervention and referral socio-emotional and mental health supports for identified or at-risk students.
- Secondary (middle and high school) experience preferred
- Strong facilitation, coaching, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
- Experience in the use of technology
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated understanding and appreciation of diversity
- Knowledge of and experience with mediation and conflict resolution
- A high level of organizational skills and initiative
- Experience and training in mental health support within a learning or school environment
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Mental Health Support position will work closely with the building administrative team to:
- Provide individual mental health counseling
- Provide education (prevention and awareness via classes/presentation on topics such trauma-informed care, socio-emotional supports and practical staff strategies)
- Develop youth leadership and empowerment skills
-Facilitate restorative justice and conflict resolution
- Provide crisis assistance
- Provide truancy intervention
- Provide mental health resources
- Liaison to/for community resources; next steps involving short term and/or long-term therapy or intervention; advocacy
- Provide small group mental health counseling (i.e., anger/stress management, girl/boy issues, self-esteem, grief, relationships, etc.)
- Address depression and anxiety (i.e., suicide ideation)
