Providing information to families: Social workers are responsible for giving families accurate and comprehensive information about the nursing home, its services, and its policies. By doing so, families can make informed decisions and select the most suitable facility for their loved ones.

Assistance with appropriate placement: Social workers aid in finding an appropriate place for potential residents, evaluating their needs and preferences to ensure the best possible fit.

Conducting pre-admission discussions and tours: Before admitting a new resident, Social Workers speak with families and provide facility tours to give them a better understanding of the nursing home environment.

Facilitating the admission process: Social workers help streamline the admission process by gathering background information on new residents and ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed and submitted.

Conducting orientation: To ease the transition, Social Workers explain the nursing home’s procedures and address any concerns families and new residents may have.

Offering counseling and support: Emotional support and counseling are essential to residents and their families. Social workers provide this service, which helps them cope with any challenges that may arise.
