JOB SUMMARY:
Develop students' knowledge and understanding of United States and world cultures and cultural evolution; to develop skills in research of social orders; and develop an understanding of the existence and importance of geographical, historical, cultural and political factors that influence the development of world societies, socio-economic systems and political systems, as well as their inter-relationship and interdependence.
MINIMAL ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaches knowledge of Social Studies, incorporating history, geography, economics, political science, systems of government, education, responsible citizenship, and humanities following the curriculum adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
- Maximizes assessment strategies to promote student learning and growth in all aspects of the curriculum especially in the area of critical thinking.
- Teachers are expected to know and understand Board policies, rules, and procedures and the district curriculum so that they may be able to carry these into effective operation.
- Collaborates with appropriate stakeholder groups within the school and community.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher.
- Missouri Teacher Certification in High School Social Studies (9-12) required.
- Successful teaching experience in a high school setting preferred.
COMPENSATION:
- Salary for this position is in accordance with the Teacher Salary Schedule for the 2024-25 school year.
- Salary will be determined based on education and years of experience.
- This is a full-time contracted teaching position with benefits.
