Location: National Capital Area Command - Washington, D.C.
Position Type: Regular Full-Time/Salary
Pay Range: $76,000 - $80,000/Salary
About this opportunity:
This position is responsible for under the general supervision of the Director of Program Services, the Social Services Manager plans, directs, coordinates, supervises, and monitors the administration of all social service programs within the D.C., primarily Harvard Street and the Solomon G. Brown Center. The incumbent will monitor and evaluate the emergency assistance funds provided by WAFF, ERAP, EFSP, Pepco, and any other programs for which The Salvation Army takes part; provide training for and supervise all department staff to ensure work is in compliance with established policies and procedures; develop, implement, and monitor programs to effectively meet the needs of the community; administer the department budget and secure funding for programs; write grants proposals; ensure program operations and monthly reporting are in compliance with contract agreements; serve as leader in the community and liaison with utility company officials by performing public speaking and promoting program services. He/she will develop program policies and procedures and workflow systems to connect social service clients with Pathway of Hope case management services.

What we are looking for in you:
  • Masters' in Business Administration, Human Services, Social Work, Education or related field from an accredited college or university AND Three years progressively responsible experience developing, implementing and managing social service programs; solid case management experience; experience in developing and implementing new programs, developing program evaluation tools, collecting and analyzing program data, compiling data for statistical reporting and outcome measures; experience with grant research techniques, budget development and management, accounting and financial analysis; experience with databases and/or Client Management Systems; two years previous supervisory experience, experience coordinating special projects and developing teams and providing support to senior-level management
  • OR Bachelors' in Business Administration, Human Services, Social Work, Education or related field from an accredited college or university AND Five years progressively responsible experience developing, implementing and managing social service and residential programs; preferably with a 501 (3) c tax exempt status; solid case management experience; experience in developing and implementing new programs, developing program evaluation tools, collecting and analyzing program data, compiling data for statistical reporting and outcome measures; experience with grant research techniques, budget development and management, accounting and financial analysis; experience with databases and/or Client Management Systems; three years previous supervisory experience, experience coordinating special projects and developing teams and providing support to senior-level management
  • LICSW; LGSW preferred
  • Supervisory Certification preferred
  • Valid State driver's license

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts. Occasionally work is performed off-site and can be associated with changes in weather and discomfort associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
