BASIC FUNCTION
The Social Service Clothing Assistant will ensure clients have the appropriate and adequate supply of seasonal clothing and personal hygiene supplies. Will carry out active treatment by implementing programs both formally and informally as directed by the Social Service Director.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Submission of all required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
2. Train individuals and staff on individuals’ legal and civil rights and create an understanding of these rights with individuals and staff.
3. Conduct and document programs for each individual, as specified by the Individualized Program Plan.
4. Interact appropriately with individuals.
5. Document, mail, and file completed document mail forms.
6. Hand out and read, as needed, all daily correspondence to individuals, respond by assisting individuals with corresponding back with letters and/or telephone calls.
7. Assist in maintaining letter-writing groups, gather supplies for group’s weekly, post letter writing schedule monthly, and assure activity is being carried out.
8. Assist with dining room, run programs, and document such.
9. Maintain accurate inventory of clients clothing, including documentation of clothing received, deleted, and distributed by working with the personnel assigned to designated clients.
10. Ensure the clients have an adequate amount of appropriate clothing in good repair and for various occasions and seasons.
11. Ensure the accurate and efficient flow of stock items (i.e., personal care items) and an accurate record of transactions.
12. Ensure supplies are utilized appropriately.
13. Ensure client wardrobes are kept neat and in order.
14. Follow established procedures to ensure an adequate supply of stock items are on hand to meet the needs of the client.
15. Ensure that client’s haircuts are completed as needed.
16. Maintain cost within department’s budgetary parameters.
17. Attend all required meetings and in-services.
18. Assist and accompany individuals on trips in the Mississippi and/or surrounding area if deemed appropriate and/or necessary.
19. Perform and or assist other staff in an effective, professional, and cooperative manner when working with supervisor/peers in all duties required to provide quality care and a pleasant environment.
20. Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent client care information to ensure client rights are protected.
21. Maintains good working rapport with intra-departmental personnel and other departments within the facility.
22. Performs other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed by the Social Service Director and/or Administrator.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
1. The Supervisor and/or Administrator may appoint serves on various committees of the facility as required and as.
2. Develops and participates in regularly scheduled orientation and inservice training programs.
3. Performs administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submits such to the Supervisor and/or Administrator as required.
4. Maintains an excellent working relationship with all other facility personnel and outside vendors.
5. Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department and facility.
6. Meets with other department personnel, on a regular basis, to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, and/or improvement of services.
EXPOSURE RISK
The Social Service Aide is at minimum risk for exposure to blood and body fluids.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
The Social Service Clothing Assistant receives supervision from the Social Service Director.

None.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Must possess at a minimum a high school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
None required. Will receive On-the-Job training.
WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Works in well-lighted/ventilated areas.
2. Sitting, standing, bending, lifting. Must be able to lift at a minimum 25 pounds without assistance.
3. Subject to frequent interruptions.
4. Involved with patients/residents, family members, personnel, visitors, etc.
5. Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients/residents, family members, etc.
6. Communicates with other departments and personnel if necessary.
7. A willingness to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when deemed necessary.
8. Is subject to falls, burns, infectious diseases, substances, odors, etc., throughout the workday.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

2. Sitting, standing, bending, lifting (no more than 25% of your own body weight) and moving intermittently during working hours.
3. Subject to frequent interruptions.
4. Involved with patients/residents, family members, personnel, visitors, etc.
5. Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients/residents, family members, etc.
6. Communicates with other departments and personnel if necessary.
7. A willingness to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when deemed necessary.
8. Is subject to falls, burns, infectious diseases, substances, odors, etc., throughout the workday.
9. Must have and maintain a valid State of Mississippi drivers’ license and meet the criteria to be insured with the company’s motor vehicle insurance.
10. Must have basic computer knowledge and skills.
