This position is responsible for designing and leading Global Tenneco Health and Safety initiatives to reduce risk, support compliance, and improve EHS acumen across the enterprise. This position may be based in Northville, Michigan or remotely and reports directly to the EHSS Technical Team Executive Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Owner and steward of global Health and Safety procedures, communications, and training
- Envisions, defines, plans, leads, and measures global Health and Safety initiatives designed to reduce enterprise risk
- Manages the lifecycle and launch of scalable tools, resources, and other solutions to support compliance and manage systemic risks across the enterprise
- Partners with procurement to manage relationships with Health and Safety preferred vendors including: selection of vendors, contracts execution, supporting scheduling of services, identifying preferred products, and consultant management
- Supports the development, measurement, and communication of EHSS KPIs
- Prepares and presents project, portfolio, and program updates to executive leadership
- Mentors, coaches, and partners with all levels and departments of the organization to improve Health and Safety acumen
- Liaises with Federal and State OSHA and other regulatory agencies
- Ability and willingness to travel 15-40% domestic and international
Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related science discipline is required. Master’s degree in one of these topics is preferred.
Experience: 10+ years of Health and Safety experience. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) accreditation is preferred. Must have experience as a senior EHS leader in a manufacturing setting with a history of positive OSHA interactions. Must have experience leading cross – functional teams to roll out large scale EHS initiatives.
