Position Summary: The Snowflake Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the Snowflake cloud data platform, ensuring its availability, security, and performance while actively monitoring cost. They work closely with data engineers, data analysts, and other stakeholders to support data-related activities within an organization. The role may also be referred to as a Snowflake DBA or Cloud Database Administrator. This position may also administer other data related tools like Power BI, Tableau or Alation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Database Installation and Configuration: Deploying and setting up Snowflake database instances and configuring the necessary parameters to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization.
• Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Monitoring the health and performance of Snowflake databases, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing queries and processes for improved efficiency and cost.
• Security Management: Implementing security measures to protect sensitive data stored in Snowflake, including user access controls, encryption, and data masking.
• Backup and Recovery: Developing and maintaining backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data and ensure business continuity.
• User Management: Managing user accounts, roles, and permissions to ensure proper access and data governance.
• Data Integration: Assisting data engineers and data analysts in integrating data from various sources into Snowflake, ensuring data consistency and quality.
• Capacity Planning: Monitoring resource usage and capacity planning to scale Snowflake infrastructure based on current and future data needs.
• Troubleshooting: Resolving database-related issues, diagnosing problems, and providing timely support to address user queries and concerns.
• Documentation: Maintaining comprehensive documentation related to Snowflake configurations, procedures, and best practices
• Collaboration: Collaborating with cross-functional teams to address data-related challenges and participate in data-related projects and initiatives.
• Automation: Developing and implementing automation scripts and processes to streamline administrative tasks and reduce manual efforts.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Experience and Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• 4+ years of experience designing and implementing data warehouse & business intelligence systems.
• Experience with SQL, and advanced knowledge of Snowflake & Azure administration.
• Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
• Knowledge of enterprise application architecture, design, and implementation considerations.
• Ability to juggle various work activities and shift their attention from one task to another to meet the demands of different stakeholders without “dropping the ball.”

• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and/or Access).
• Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

• Experience with Azure Data resources (ADF, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Storage Accounts).
• Experience with Python, DevOps, and GitHub.
• Knowledge of the home improvement industry related to reporting and analytical needs.
• Certifications in: Database Administration, Azure Administration, or Snowflake Administration.

Travel Requirements:

• Less than 10% domestic travel required.

Overtime/Additional Hours Requirements:

• Additional hours may be required (exempt positions).

Physical Requirements:

• Normal office environment.
• Performs indoor work in a climate-controlled environment.
• Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
