Positions Location: Lansing, MI Job Description General Purpose of Job: To provide patient centered nutritional, exercise and life coaching skills to all clients of the SMG Bariatric Surgery practice both pre and post operatively through one on one sessions, group sessions and varied online and app based support. This is a component of a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting patients undergoing bariatric surgery for life changing results. Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis.

Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position. Develops an individualized dietary and exercise plan for all bariatric patients through one on one sessions Monitors utilizing online tracking the individual patients' dietary and exercise compliance with the ability to coach, redirect and support program compliance Plans and conducts participant group sessions related to nutrition and exercise Creates supporting material to facilitate learning (ex - PowerPoint presentations, patient testimonials, pamphlets, learning aids/cues, online groups) in a technologically up to date manner.

Monitors and updates on a regular basis. Create and monitor a dietary and fitness mentorship amongst patients, providing supervision, guidance and redirection when necessary. Meet with clients on an individual basis as needed to provide support in dietary and exercise guidance, encouragement and counseling.

Provides up to date nutritional and supplement information to SMG Bariatric team members and patients alike Ability to do Motivational speaking to a group Communicates concerns and actively participates in team meetings with physicians, APPs, psychologists, ancillary staff and referring physicians involved in the process of supporting patients throughout their involvement in the program. Promotes follow up and compliance with all the objectives established for the Bariatric office Attends staff meetings and is an actively participates in the meetings Evaluates all labs an makes recommendations regarding adequate supplementation, in collaboration with the clinical team. Provides ongoing technological innovation as it relates to health and nutrition.

maintains membership and ongoing participation and accreditation with the MBSC and ASMBS Maintain CME consistent with degrees. Utilizes online survey software to gain pre and post-operative understanding of satisfaction to promote ongoing process improvement Demonstrates ability to analyze, select and utilize current technology software with the objective of enhancing patient outcomes and satisfaction. Job Requirements General Requirements Maintain CPR and First-Aid certification Current Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Certification through the American Council on Exercise preferred ACE-CPT or equivalent certification preferred Work Experience Minimum of one year Dietetics experience and experience in counseling patients in nutrition and exercise Experience working with patients that need counseling for reduction of weight preferred Demonstrated experience in weight management and/or bariatric surgery preferred Education Bachelor's degree in dietetics from accredited college or university Master's Degree in dietetics or nutrition-related field or health counseling -related field preferred Specialized Knowledge and Skills Demonstrated understanding of obesity with its causes and effects, effective treatment techniques, an ability to positively execute positive motivational and reinforcement techniques.

Web based application implementation and online program administration skills Demonstrated understanding of group dynamics and development with excellent interpersonal and presentations skills and techniques to effectively facilitate treatment protocol data in small group setting. Demonstrated ability to provide non-judgmental leadership and motivation to participants directing them toward desired outcomes. Demonstrated ability to interact with center staff in a team meeting setting and treatment approach.
