Well-Being Department Specifics
Responsible for supporting health promotion and well-being programs aimed at encouraging members to adopt healthy lifestyles by actively participating in well-being activities. Position will provide assessment; health education and behavior change presentations using a collaborative approach to facilitate change.
- Assist in the identification, development, and promotion of member health education needs by attending events and open enrollment fairs coordinated with external customers and internal account managers, if needed.
- Perform research and communicate on relevant topics in health promotion and disease prevention.
- Facilitate collaboration between health education resources, the community, and the company.
- Comply with applicable regulatory and licensing requirements such as NCQA, CMS, URAC, etc.
- Monitor and report events and/or presentations metrics (e.g. outcomes).
- Work with external customers to track and maintain annual calendar of well-being presentations and events.
- Prepare presentation/display materials and conduct targeted education/well-being presentations targeting specific health strategies for designated populations.
- Serve as liaison between internal account managers and external customers to champion and develop presentations aimed at prevention and well-being.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Nutrition, Nursing, Exercise Physiology or Social Work required.
- Two (2) years experience in a health promotion/education setting, counseling on health topics such as nutrition, exercise, cholesterol, hypertension, stress, alcohol, and smoking.
- Valid and unrestricted Michigan driver's license is required.
- Clinical knowledge of disease prevention and well-being strategies.
- Working knowledge and understanding of health behavior change theories, counseling, interviewing techniques, strategies and application required.
- Ability to plan, implement and evaluate employee disease prevention and health promotion programs.
- Reliable transportation, current auto liability coverage and an acceptable driving record as travel is required.

- Assist in the identification and development of member health education needs through health assessment activities that may include online health risk appraisal, telephonic outreach, etc.
- Provide telephonic outreach and counseling on member compliance with nationally accepted health prevention guidelines and general health and wellness strategies.
- Perform research and communicate on relevant topics in health promotion and disease prevention.
- Facilitate collaboration between health education resources, the community, and the company.
- Comply with applicable regulatory and licensing requirements such as NCQA, CMS, URAC, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Nutrition, Nursing, Exercise Physiology or Social Work required.
- Master’s degree in related discipline preferred.
- Two (2) years experience in a health promotion/education setting, counseling on health topics such as nutrition, exercise, cholesterol, hypertension, stress, alcohol, and smoking.
- Other education and/or experience may be required based on designated departmental assignment.
- Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) certification, Licensed
- Registered Nurse (RN), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certification. Medical licenses require current unrestricted state of Michigan licensure. Valid Michigan Accident and Health Insurance License.
- Valid and unrestricted Michigan driver's license is required.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work at a high energy level in a team environment with minimum supervision.
- Ability to be flexible and to manage multiple tasks with a strong customer focus.
- Clinical knowledge of disease prevention and wellness strategies.
- Good working knowledge of current industry standard PC software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) and proven administrative abilities.
- Working knowledge and understanding of health behavior change theories, counseling, interviewing techniques, strategies and application required.
- Ability to plan, implement and evaluate employee disease prevention and health promotion programs.
- Reliable transportation, current auto liability coverage and an acceptable driving record as travel is required.
- Knowledge of NCQA, CMS, URAC, HEDIS standards as applicable to designated department assignment.
- Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job based on designated departmental assignment.
