The ideal applicant will be asked to perform all tasks given and listed in the job description, whether it be sweeping or performing a complete rebuild on a piece of equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
May or may not include:
- Diagnose hydraulic systems, diesel, and truck issues including transmission issues, injector problems, electrical systems.
- Mount, dismount, repair, and change tires.
- Complete paper work involving in field and shop repairs.
- Repair/Replace defective parts
- Welding
- On-site service calls
- Perform house keeping tasks
- Reassemble and listen to engines to diagnose any problems.
- Record repairs made, time spent, and parts used.
- Show customers how to maintain equipment.
- Update and use job-related knowledge.
- Inspect equipment, structures, or materials.
- Get information needed to do the job.
- Identify objects, actions, and events.
- Control machines and processes.
- Operate vehicles or mechanized equipment.
- Organize, plan, and prioritize work.
- Work with the public.
- Schedule work and responsibilities to be completed.
- Estimate sizes, quantities, time, cost, or materials needed.
- Evaluate information against quality standards requirements.
- Process information.
- Perform administrative tasks, including analyzing data or information.
- Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis
Qualifications:
- Mechanic must be able to work on several types of equipment, including; skids steers, loaders, backhoes, skip loaders, dump trucks, water trucks and ride on trenchers.
- Understanding of brands including Case, John Deere, Ditch witch, Bobcat, etc.
- Should be able to read and understand electrical & hydraulic schematics.
- Must be able to read and write at a 12th grade level.
- Needs to have good phone communication skills.
- Ability to think creatively.
- Ability to use computers.
- Decision making and problem solving.
Physical Demands:
Required to be able to be on your feet most of the day. May be asked to climb a ladder. Must be able to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 60 lbs. May have to crouch for extended periods of time and work in all weather/climate conditions.
Work Environment:
Equipment Mechanics will be working in the shop and in the field. They will be working in various weather conditions including, heat, cold, etc. The atmosphere will present constant noise while working and when working in the field the candidate must remain in radio contact with the shop.
