Requirements
- High School or GED Equivalent
- Basic Mathematics skills
- Ability to read and write English Language
- Ability to understand and use Safety Rules and Procedures as well as OSHA standards and regulations
- Must exercise a reasonable degree of judgment and possess the ability to recognize appropriate company policies that apply in each situation and follow them.
- Must be able to read measuring tape and caliper

Metals USA has an immediate opening for a 1st Shift Slitter Operator in their Randleman, NC facility.
The Slitter Operator performs advanced production activities requiring a demonstrated high level of skill and proficiency in material handling, production processes and multiple machine operation acquired through extended experience and training.
- Review sales orders and set line up to produce metal per sales request, double check the parts to ship.
- Set up line to produce cuts per customers' specifications.
- Ensure all quality inspections are being done throughout the production process.
- Update and record completed work orders in the computer
- Select correct material for the job according to work order
- Positions work pieces for processing (may operate a combination of different machines)
- Uses gauges, calipers, squares, or rulers for measurement
- Reviews work orders, tooling instructions or other written specifications
- Sets up and aligns specified material or other fixtures in machine bed using gauges, templates, shims, or hand tools
- Adjusts controls to set depth, and feed sheets
- Performs quality control inspections on finished product. For ISO-certified, performs In Process Quality Inspections
- Diagnoses problems and makes necessary adjustments and removes scrap from machine
- Coordinates and executes material handling to be processed including operation of overhead crane
- Completes work order paperwork/documentation
- Restocks material
- May mark identification on material before processing
- May mark material after processing; store material for additional processing and/or shipping
- Stacks, bands, and palletizes finished products for shipment to customers
- Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.
- Must be available to work from the Metals USA facility
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
- This position is not work-from-home eligible.
