JobSummary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Engineer with expertise in maintaining SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), collecting logs using syslog, and proficiency in Regex (Regular Expressions) and Yara. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security solutions to protect our organization's critical assets and infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of security principles, incident response, log analysis, and the ability to effectively utilize SIEM tools, syslog, Regex, and Yara to detect and respond to security incidents.

 

Responsibilities:

- Configure and manage SIEM rules, alerts, and reports to detect and respond to security incidents in a timely manner.

- Collect, aggregate, and analyze logs from various sources using syslog, ensuring proper log management and retention.

- Develop and maintain Regex patterns to parse and extract relevant information from logs for analysis and correlation.

- Utilize Yara rules to identify and detect known malware and suspicious patterns in files and network traffic.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate and respond to security incidents, including conducting root cause analysis and implementing remediation measures.

- Stay up-to-date with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices to ensure the organization's security posture is continuously improved.

- Provide guidance and support to other teams on security-related matters, including incident response, log analysis, and security tool utilization.

- Participate in the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and standards.

 

Requirements:

Must meet all eligibility requirements outlined in DOD Instruction 1322.29 and NAVADMIN 222/15. Required

This SkillBridge program requires a minimum of 120 days of SkillBridge Fellowship.

Technical associates degree, military-technical school, or civilian technical trade school completion

Education level: Working on bachelor’s degree or relevant experience with 1-4 years in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

- Proven experience as a Security Engineer, with a focus on SIEM maintenance, syslog, Regex, and Yara. - In-depth knowledge of security principles, best practices, and industry standards.

- Strong understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, and network security concepts.

- Proficiency in utilizing SIEM tools (e.g., Chronicle, Splunk, ArcSight, QRadar) for log analysis, event correlation, and incident response.

- Experience in configuring and managing logging servers for log collection and analysis.

- Expertise in writing and analyzing regular expressions (Regex) for log parsing and pattern matching.

- Familiarity with Yara rules and their application for malware detection and analysis.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify and respond to security incidents.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:
• San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $143,000 to $235,000 per year
• California (Non-SF/Bay Area), Connecticut, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Washington state: $137,000 to $225,000 per year
• Colorado, Nevada, Rhode Island: $124,000 to $204,000 per year
Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
This position may be offered in other locations. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
