SUMMARY

This position will be to perform Safety and Health monitoring for field activities, support the safety manager in preparation and review of safety plans, safety training, enforcing safety programs, and other duties as assigned. Manages, monitors, and advises Safety Manager, Construction Manager, and Project Manager on matters related to the Health and Safety of personnel and issues affecting/ impacting the Environment.

$35.00 - $45.00/Hr


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Travel to job sites to conduct a variety of safety related inspections / tasks
  • Review safety procedures and processes with team members onsite (Activity Hazard Analysis)
  • Certain jobs may require a substantial safety presence
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Assist with writing/reviewing/submitting safety documents for Government approval
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (i.e., OSHA, EM385 1-1, NFPA, ATSSA, ANSI, NIOSH) at the jobsite level
  • Perform HAZWOPER training and staff fit testing

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training
  • 10-hour OSHA training
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification
  • EM385 1-1 40-hour Certification (can be ongoing)
  • At least one year of  industry safety experience in providing construction or environmental project supervising/managing (safety programs, processes or conducting hazard analyses and developing controls).
  • If the candidate has a third party, nationally accredited safety, and occupational health related certification eligibility or attainment is preferable.
  • Hands on experience with calibration of H2S monitors, posting and reading of air monitoring and sampling for silica or other site contaminants.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Suite

Preferred

  • Training in fire safety, health, security, sanitation inspections
  • Ability to access military bases or federal secure facilities
  • Familiarity of oil and gas field operations

NECESSARY PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is often required to be outdoors in various weather scenarios observing other BSNC staff or subcontractor staff.  The employee is regularly required to work around heavy earthmoving equipment, trucks and drill rigs.  The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand, climb, or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

 

The employee will work in a temperature-controlled office environment, as well as on construction job sites. Job sites may be outdoors, or indoors. During visits to construction job sites, the individual may be exposed to: extreme cold or hot weather conditions, hazardous noise, fall hazards, heights in excess of 10 feet, confined spaces, excavations, live traffic, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, hazardous materials, unexploded ordinance, and dimly lit areas.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervisory responsibilities will be in the review of currently established practices, with an emphasis of ways to keep team members safe while performing a range of activities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
