Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?
As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be an integral part of a Business Insurance Systems Team, responsible for building/supporting highly reusable services and capabilities for the Intake and FlowUW circles. While the position will be engineering focused, the primary goal is ensuring the smooth operation of the organization’s capabilities to provide maximum performance, security and availability while also managing to an exceptional user experience. The role is responsible for designing, building, implementing, and supporting capabilities across the value stream. While the position is highly technical in nature, attention must also be paid to transformational initiatives, technology strategy, and operational capabilities This position requires excellent problem solving, and customer service skills in a team-oriented environment.
What Will You Do?
  • Perform analysis, design, development, and configuration functions (includes defining technical requirements) with a high degree of accuracy and speed, operating as an individual contributor to team goals.
  • Perform analysis, assessment and resolution for defects and incidents of advanced complexity and escalate appropriately.
  • Work independently to tackle well-scoped and loosely scoped problems.
  • Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Four years of programming/development experience preferred.
  • Implementation experience using optimization, automation, and containerization tools such as Docker, Terraform, and Kubernetes in a Public Cloud environment such as AWS is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience working with on-premises and cloud-based services in a highly available and scalable production environment.
  • Experience with shell/bash scripting, Linux and/or building/deploying applications using CI tools or Pipelines.
  • Experience with one or more CI/CD DevOps tools: Gitlab, ArgoCD, Jenkins, UCD, GitHub Actions
  • Experience with one or more programming languages: NodeJS, Python, .NET, Java.
  • Experience with Containers: Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, EKS, GKE
  • Experience with Cloud platform: AWS, GCP
  • Experience with IaC: Terraform, CloudFormation
  • Experience with one or more Application Performance Monitoring tools: Dynatrace, Grafana/Influx, or ELK stack.
  • Experience with event-driven technologies: AWS EventBridge, Kafka, SQS
  • Experience with APIs: MuleSoft, AWS API Gateway
  • Solid understanding of systems design.
  • Able to participate in technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction aligning with business goal
  • Technical Knowledge:
  • Able to expertly assess, design, develop, and support applications, systems, and solutions to achieve business and/or technical requirements.
  • Demonstrates technical expertise for multiple languages, applications, systems, technologies, and/or frameworks, and can influence technical direction or defect resolution.
  • Fully understands business applications and/or technical system environments in which the system operates.
  • Experience developing, operating, and automating distributed systems with high-availability and high-throughput.
  • Willingness to build and update documentation to facilitate learning for yourself and the team.
  • Communication Skills:
  • Ability to communicate thoughts/designs/ideas in an unambiguous manner and adjusts communication based on audience.

What is a Must Have?
  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in work experience.
  • Two years of programming/development experience.
