THESE POSITIONS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE TO CANDIDATES THAT HAVE RETIRED FROM NEW YORK CITY SERVICE. THIS POSITION IS PART TIME, UP TO 21 HOURS A WEEK. THESE POSITIONS OFFER FLEXIBILITY IN SCHEDULING AND WILL BE DISCUSSED IN FURTHER DETAIL DURING THE INTERVIEW PROCESS.
The Administration for Children's Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of New York City's children and families by providing child welfare, juvenile justice, and early care services. In child welfare, ACS contracts with private nonprofit organizations to support and stabilize families at risk of a crisis through preventive services and provides foster care services for children not able to safely remain at home. Each year, the agency's Division of Child Protection responds to more than 50,000 reports of suspected child abuse or neglect. In juvenile justice, ACS manages and funds services including detention and placement, intensive community-based alternatives for youth, and support services for families. ACS is also a key part of NYCs early childhood and education continuum, providing childcare assistance to thousands of child welfare involved and low-income children so they can access safe, affordable, quality care.
The candidate must be able to communicate effectively and tactfully with different applications departments Boroughs including ECS; should demonstrate a good working background in Connections environment; knowledge of the NY State Connections comprehensive case management system. Utilize Microsoft Excel and MS Word to compile and highlight critical data graphically. Access LTS and perform lookups of client information utilizing SSO portal.
The Connections and System Support Specialist will be responsible for the following:
- Possess a Good working knowledge of NY State Connections. Perform Person and Case searches utilizing person and case identifiers to resolve identified concerns.
- Input data into Connections.
- Perform Multiple Persons ID (MPIDs) merges/track applications and borough staff reductions. Provide written feedback on unresolved matters.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Liaise with Applications teams in each borough on the following: Pull and review Applications logs from S drive for completeness. Confirm with SSO.
- Track Resolution of incorrect CINs. Review and assess CIN discrepancies from borough staff. Confirm with SSO regarding CIN discrepancies. Track Medicaid/medical coverage/CIN discrepancies of clients entering foster care.
- Staff look-up in Connections - Unit status, Designees status a. Update on CAS Units status, rotation, rejections, manual assignments.
- CARES intake/tracking, monitoring.
- Access and search LTS

1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
