Shop / Mechanic Helper
Location: Fort Nelson, BC
Diversified Transportation is currently looking for a Shop / Mechanic Helper to join our maintenance team in Fort Nelson. This position is ideal for a mechanically inclined and self-starting individual who is looking to gain experience or potentially enrolling in an apprenticeship program.
This is a part-time position offering approximately 25 hours per week working a morning shift.
Wage: $25.50 per hour
Key Responsibilities:

• Help mechanics in performing maintenance and repairs on buses
• Assist with basic tasks such as replacing lights, topping up fluids
• Spring and winter maintenance
• Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs
• Bus starts on cold mornings
• Clean shop and return tools to the proper location
• Building and yard maintenance
• Attend and participate in safety meetings and inspections
• Perform various other related duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent mechanical skills
• Knowledge of vehicle repair
• Ability to listen and follow instructions
• Ability to read service and repair manuals
• Comfortable using power and hand tools
• Computer proficiency
• Ability to work independently

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Related experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections
• Must be able to work safely in a shop environment which can include loud noise, fumes, and variation in temperature
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. at a time
