Shop Manager

Join us in an exciting time as we move in to our new facility in Milton, Wisconsin! S&S Transport was founded in Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1981, and in 2018 we added our Janesville, Wisconsin warehouse and office. We are now poised to open our new facility in Milton in June, which includes a brand new shop. We currently have 150 trucks in our fleet and are steadily growing.

We are looking to hire an experienced Shop Manager that has experience in diesel mechanics that can lead our new shop team . As Shop Manager, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the maintenance and repair of all company trucks and trailers, to ensure safe and reliable operations.

Job Summary

If you are skilled with your hands and passionate about teamwork, you will be an excellent fit as a truck mechanic at our local shop that prides itself on outstanding customer service, accurate workmanship, and willing up for hard work. We are looking for the right candidate who will help us achieve our goal of company growth. As a member of our team, you will get to interact with drivers to figure out what they need, put your mechanical skills to use and repair trucks and various types of trailers. This is an exceptional position for someone with a positive attitude, excellent technical skills, and the desire to succeed. You will work directly with our Shop Foreman, Service Writers, Parts Manager, and the Fleet Maintenance Manager.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintaining records of routine and preventative maintenance, as well as repairs.
• Managing shop staff, including training.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory policies.
• Evaluate continuously the overall conditions of the fleet to improve reliability and performance.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure maintenance is scheduled to minimize disruption of business operations.
• Say current with technology changes and industry trends.
• Some hands on experience required.

Required Job Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must have basic mechanic abilities and knowledge of basic tools
• Must be able to lift heavy equipment and parts regularly
• Excellent customer service skills, the ability to communicate professional with clients and support staff
• Must be comfortable with working in awkward positions or cramped spaces
• Must be willing to learn our systems and practices
• We are willing to train the right individual who is mechanically inclined
• Provide a clean, safe and effective work environment for all employees, vendors and contractors.
• Proper handling and management of on-site generated waste to include, but not limited to proper packaging, labeling, storing, accumulation time, inspections, and manifesting.

Preferred

• Four years of related experience/education/certification.
• One year of supervisory/lead experience.
• Knowledge of DTSC and DOT regulations pertaining to Hazardous Waste preferred.
• Basic use of Microsoft Office
• Must have an excellent understanding of warranty repairs , maintenance, parts management, and best practices in continuous improvement processes.
