The Pioneer Group, a division of Hearst Newspapers Michigan, has an immediate, full-time logistics opening for shipping, receiving and local delivery at its Big Rapids printing facility. We specialize in printing journals, mini tabloids, real estate guides and calendars across the region
Responsibilities
- Unload paper rolls and stack in warehouse with clamp truck.
- Maintain organized paper inventory.
- Read job ticket and production schedule to stage paper for production.
- Read job ticket instructions to properly stage product for delivery.
- Unload skids of materials and organize in storage racks.
- Load skids, boxes, bundles of product into vans & trucks for delivery or customer pick up using fork lift and by hand.
- Wrap and band outgoing skids using skid wrapper.
- Use computer system to log arrival of pre printed inserts.
- Use computer for press, delivery, paper schedules.
- Use computer to write and answer emails track inserts.
- Unload Ups, FedEx, and other deliveries, with fork lift sometimes by hand.
- Requisition needed supplies for shipping and vehicle maintenance.
- Track and schedule vehicle maintenance.
- Maintain vehicle appearance inside and out.
- Manage paper scrap trailer loading, unloading.
- Drive vehicles to make delivery and pickups.
- Keep warehouse area organized and clean sweeping and mopping required.
- Help with building maintenance.
- Keep Forklift and Clamp truck batteries filled and charged and well maintained.
- Change ink totes.
- Help in other areas of production if understaffed.
Requirements
- Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM with the possibility of an occasional Saturday shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs as needed.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, twist and climb ladders.
- Must have reliable transportation and ability to obtain a chauffer's license.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation physical to drive our cargo vans and 26 ft Box truck.
- Safety-minded and ability to comply with established safety protocols.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
