Job description

Wingard & Company Inc., a growing manufacturing company located in Baltimore Maryland, is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to join our team. We are a world class manufacturer of electrical steel laminations and other precision aerospace metal parts.

This is a full time, non-exempt position with a 4-day work week!

The Shipping Receiving Supervisor will report to the Director of Business Operations and is responsible for overseeing the Shipping and Receiving department. The duties performed include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure the department is run in a safe, professional manner; all employees are trained in the job requirements, required safety procedures, and compliance to all AS9001 and customer processes and certifications.
  • Supervise and motivate the shipping and receiving staff to promote a productive and cooperative work environment, and maintain a well-trained, satisfied team.
  • Coordinate shipping schedules for production and properly plan for mixed product loads. Work with them to resolve questions regarding shipping schedules or product unavailable for shipment as scheduled.
  • Administer reconsignment of freight, refusals, problems with delivery, returned merchandise, etc. as necessary.
  • Supervise and/or schedule shipments for both finished goods and in-process outside services.
  • Oversee receiving, verifying, and stocking inbound materials.
  • Coordinate shipment logistics with outside freight companies.
  • Maintain documentation of the shipping and receiving function
  • Function as a purchasing agent to order supplies for the shipping and receiving department.
  • Create purchase orders for vendors (service vendors i.e. grinder, plater, etc.) and expediting until receipt of services/goods.
  • Maintain warehouse record-keeping on raw materials and parts inventory.
  • Lead the weekly, monthly, and quarterly inventory cycle counts.
  • Responsible for the 90+% accuracy of physical inventory as seen through cycle counts and bi-annual physical audits.
  • Provide status updates as needed to supervisor, sales department, and other relevant internal contacts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Supervisory experience in logistics required.
  • Certification in forklift operations is required; must possess a valid Class A driver’s license.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Proficient in the use of computers; Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems.
  • Proven track record for on-time delivery, record-keeping, and purchasing.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Great problem-solving skills, ability to read/comprehend sales, manufacturing orders, and bill of materials.
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines and policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of general shipping policies and regulations regarding freight and be familiar with rates and routes to determine appropriate shipping methods.

Education & Experience

  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a Shipping & Receiving Supervisory position, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of Employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $36.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
