SUMMARY
Document and process order shipments and receipts.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares shipments by assembling, packing, protecting, and labeling containers.
- Ships items by verifying identifying information and quantity and condition of items; loading and protecting items.
- Documents items shipped by recording identifying information of items and transport information.
- Maintains shipping and receiving materials by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed materials, placing and expediting orders for materials; verifying receipt of materials.
- Help out doing production tasks when needed.
- Operates forklift in warehouse and dock environment
- Processes receipts and truck inspections via company systems
- Sets up pick-ups via Transportation Management System
- Processes and organizes Sales Orders
- Forklift certified
- Either has or is willing to obtain Class C license with Hazmat Endorsement
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist shipping department loading and unloading trucks.
- Assist in other departments as needed.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge base by sponsoring or attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
- Contribute to team results by complying with the Edlong meeting/group process guidelines and contributing to the achievement of departmental objectives.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results in adherence to Corporate Mission, Vision, and Strategic goals as needed.
- Participate in employee taste panels.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Some shipping experience in the food or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to:
- Read, write, comprehend written, electronic, spoken instructions, memos, correspondence, communicate verbally by phone and electronically in a professional manner in English.
- Effectively present information in one-on-one, large and small group situations to customers, clients, or other employees.
- Compile data into reports and summaries.
- Listen to customer needs and respond with appropriate product proposals to meet those needs.
MATHEMATICS SKILLS
Ability to:
- Compute in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Compute rates, ratios, and percents and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Perform mathematical operations using various units of money, weight, volume and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to:
- Work independently to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Develop positive customer relationships and respond to inquiries or complaints from customers in a proactive manner.
- Interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction in mathematical or diagram form and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Working knowledge of:
- Microsoft office and ability to learn and use all internal business software.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job:
- The employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit.
- The employee must be able to operate a keyboard, calculator and telephone.
- Ability to accurately measure small quantities (as low as 1/1000th of a gram.)
- Capable of manually stirring chemicals.
- Job often requires lifting up to 50 pounds of product.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position is essential to food production and therefore work must be performed onsite.
- Regular attendance is required with few unscheduled absences.
- Mandatory overtime is sometimes necessary.
- The work location is a manufacturing plant.
- Some dust may be present, smells may, at times, be unpleasant.
- Safety equipment is mandatory for several processes.
- Working hours are 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
