Job Description
The Shipping, Receiving & Quality Assurance Specialist is a key role in the organization's daily operations. This position acts as the heart of our back-of-house operations in a specialty retail store setting located near Pittsburgh's East End. Duties include product handling and inventory management, providing exceptional client service, order fulfillment, and ensuring that all quality standards are maintained. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication and organizational skills, and works effectively with our sales professionals, management team, and clients in order to drive store sales and profitability.
Responsibilities include:
Quality Assurance:
Process inventory orders, log items that have been received and items that have been taken from inventory and moves product from the stock room or warehouse to the required location, and vice versa. Inspect shipments of new stock as they come in, ensure orders have been filled correctly, and look for damage; and makes arrangements to correct damaged or incorrect orders.
Load and unload inventory trucks and places items in their proper place in the stock room or warehouse.
Prepare and apply shipping and mailing labels to items that are being shipped out of the company to fulfill orders or replace damaged stock.
Double-check all prices to ensure that the amount charged for each item matches the amount paid.
Responsible for entering in a basic stock orders into inventory and some special orders. Add entered stock items to special order transactions if appropriate.
Document flow of goods in systems as needed
Perform tests and document that incoming items match invoice description.
Performs Quality Assurance tests, compiles and records findings, and translates findings into reports for management and clients.
Accepts and rejects products based on established quality controls.
Investigate customer complaints and internal issues and implements solutions.
Shipping & Receiving:
Verify and maintain records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.
Compare identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies maintained and keeps records of all materials and equipment that enter or leave the facility via an access database. Add all shipping information to sales transactions.
Communicate shipment information in a timely manner.
Responsible for off-site shipments as well if items are needed to be delivered to UPS, Fed Ex or the post office
Responsible for preparing business envelopes of payments, letters, any customer correspondence and customer billing statements as needed.
Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record and report shortages and discrepancies, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
Route checked incoming materials, supplies, or equipment to the stockroom, appropriate departments, or other areas.
Prepare products or materials for shipment on a timely basis.
Assemble shipping containers or selects pre-assembled containers, and inserts items to be shipped into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.
Recommend method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
Affix shipping labels, identifying information, and shipping instructions onto packed cartons or containers.
Post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage.
Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Prepare bills of lading and maintains documentation of goods shipped.
Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Perform computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods.
May operate tier-lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work areas.
Qualifications:
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience
Strong Analytical skills
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Organized and detail oriented
Flexibility to perform different tasks based on day-to-day business needs.
Must have authorization to work in the United States or in the country where the position is based.
This is a full-time, hourly position, with a starting rate between $21-23 per hour, plus a PTO and benefits package, along with the training necessary for you to thrive in your job.
