Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate creation of shipping paperwork including packing lists and bills of lading, using information gathered from various sources including written and verbal instruction.
- Accurately label part numbers and quantity of finished goods, or verify accuracy of existing labels, before shipping.
- Pack parts for shipment in boxes, on pallets, racks or other containers.
- Follow and enforce standards and procedures for safely packing product for shipment by local delivery, UPS, or LTL truck.
- Oversee the loading of trucks for optimal floor space usage.
- Communicate with company drivers about pick-ups and deliveries.
- Oversee keeping shipping and receiving docks, driveway and outside storage clean, organized, and safe.
- Identify and track excess finished goods placed in inventory; remove obsolete inventory.
- Monitor shipping supplies inventory and requisitioning as needed.
- Count and inspect all incoming materials.
- Route materials to appropriate department/area.
- Notify purchasing of any damaged/incorrect material received from vendors.
- Count incoming returned products and review with management.
- 2+ years of experience pulling, counting, and packaging goods for shipment.
- 2+ years of experience using a pallet jack and forklift.
- 2+ years of experience creating shipping paperwork such as packing slips or bills of lading.
- Basic computer skills (Windows, Excel).
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs (with frequent lifting of 25 - 50 lbs).
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat, reach and perform repetitive hand and finger movements.
- Ability to work in a non-temperature controlled, very busy, industrial environment where smoking is allowed.
