Shipping/Logistics Lead Person position
The hours for this position are 6am - 2pm. Over time may be required.
General Summary
Responsible for directing and performing all department processes. This is a working lead position, meaning that a portion of the day is spent working in shipping – preparing items for shipment, processing shipments, building crates, packaging, using various power tools, regular lifting up to 80lbs.,making entries in Epicor (ERP system), etc. This individual is also responsible to help expedite work orders, communicate with other internal functions, contact shipping carriers, etc to ensure product leaves the dock timely. This individual is also responsible for individual and departmental performance, training, employee development, department scheduling, quality, departmental materials, and on-time shipments. They are to oversee and inform the hourly employees regarding company policies & expectations including, but not limited to, attendance, safety and administrative procedures and are to foster a collaborative cooperative environment. In performing all of these duties there is a large amount of multi-tasking and opportunities for interruptions while performing the work.
This individual is also responsible for assisting other areas of the business as necessary, such as other departmental coverage as needed. This individual will be responsible for leading the shift if the Supervisor for the department is unavailable. During the times that the supervisor is in the building, this person will be a go to person for training employees, shipping, and other functions in addition to the regular work that is conducted in the Shipping / Logistics department as business dictates. This individual may also be responsible for assisting with overtime leadership coverage to include weekends.
This individual is also responsible for providing performance related feedback to the supervisor on all employees to assist with performance evaluations and measurement of goal attainment. This requires honest and direct feedback and the ability to evaluate the performance of others in a consistent manner. This individual also interacts with several areas of the business on a regular basis and requires a high level of attention to detail and communication skills to interact with different functions of the business.
This individual must be capable of receiving, understanding, and giving clear, concise instructions in English, both orally and in written form. They must have the ability to multi-task, maintain good relationships with others within the organization, and work in the shipping department as a contributor and a leader. They must be well organized, be capable of effectively achieving deadlines with minimal direct supervision, have an exemplary attendance record, work well in a team environment, and be willing to work flexible hours if needed.
