Under minimal supervision, the Shipping Clerk is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate shipment of goods and products to customers. This includes coordinating with internal departments, preparing shipping documentation, and maintaining records of shipping activities.
Coordinate with sales, production, and warehouse departments to ensure accurate and timely shipment of products.
- Prepare shipping documentation such as bills of lading, shipping labels, and customs forms.
- Verify and maintain records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Inspect and document any damages or discrepancies in shipped products.
- Prepare and file claims for any damaged or lost products.
- Assist in loading and unloading shipments as needed.
- Communicate with carriers and freight forwarders to schedule shipments and track deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to shipping and transportation.
Experience & Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in shipping or logistics preferred.
- Knowledge of shipping procedures and documentation required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Computer Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and shipping software.
- Able to learn ERP systems (SAP, JD Edwards).
Special Physical Requirements:
- Standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, far and near activity, depth perception, visual accommodation.
- Must be able to lift at the minimum 50 lbs.
