Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

Position Overview: 

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Shipping and Receiving Supervisor to oversee our warehouse's Shipping and Receiving operations in our food manufacturing plant. This role involves a broad range of responsibilities, including staff supervision and continuous improvement of warehouse processes. This role is also pivotal in ensuring the efficient and timely movement of goods in and out of the facility, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality.

Responsibilities, Skills, and Experience: 

Supervision and Leadership:

· Oversee the receipt of incoming materials and products, ensuring proper documentation, quality checks, and storage.

· Manage the scheduling, loading, and shipping of finished goods to customers or distribution centers.

· Develop and maintain efficient schedules for Shipping and Receiving operations.

· Oversee and professionally develop a team of warehouse personnel, ensuring comprehensive training and skill enhancement.

· Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback regularly.

· Strategically manage the recruitment of warehouse personnel, ensuring timely and effective staffing in alignment with operational needs.

Communication:

· Collaborate with the production, quality control, and purchasing departments to ensure smooth operations and timely fulfillment of orders.

· Communicate with the Purchasing Department regarding damaged goods, including providing pictures and quantity details.

· Notify relevant parties about any delays, issues, or changes in shipments.

Documentation and Auditing:

· Maintain accurate records and reports on all Shipping and Receiving activities.

· Create and review Bills of Lading (BOLs), ensuring accuracy in quantities returned.

· Conduct regular audits to identify discrepancies and address them promptly.

· Oversee the accurate and timely completion of Shipping and Receiving documentation.

Inventory Management:

· Assist with monitoring inventory levels, conduct regular physical counts, and reconcile with data storage systems to maintain accuracy.

· Assist with investigating inventory discrepancies.

· Ensure all expired materials are put on hold and a proper disposition is made.

· Collaborate with inventory and sales teams to manage stock levels effectively.

Operational Efficiency:

· Follow up on Purchase Orders (POs) delivered but not approved for receipt.

· Audit partials for proper storage and handling.

· Implement a logical warehouse layout to streamline picking and packing processes.

· Establish a system for handling and processing product returns efficiently.

Quality Assurance:

· Ensure outbound orders are pulled, staged efficiently, and accurately.

· Review and sign off on Shipping Documents (SDs) before loading.

· Maintain clear communication with team members and other departments.

Safety and Compliance:

· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements.

· Ensure equipment, such as forklifts, is well-maintained.

· Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures.

Process Improvement:

· Identify areas for improvement in the Shipping and Receiving processes and implement changes to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.

· Investigate the root causes of errors and assist with implementing corrective actions.

Qualifications:

· Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

· At least 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role within a warehouse or distribution environment, preferably in the food industry.

· Excellent leadership skills and the ability to manage staff.

· A strong understanding of customer service and supply chain management principles.

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.

· Ability to work in varying temperature conditions.

Other Duties: 

· Follow food safety and quality protocols. 

· Follow GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), housekeeping and safe work practices. 

· Other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 per year
