POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a Shipping & Receiving - Lead. This position is directly responsible for assisting the Supervisor in all aspects of managing the shipping department. Participate in all day-to-day activities in the shipping department, with a focus on throughput and continuous improvement. Helps create and promote a performance-based culture using departmental metrics and daily production meetings, while providing training and guidance to the department to keep it operating at a high level of efficiency for maximum results.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists with directing, mentoring, training, coaching and motivating all shipping personnel.
• Conducts daily crew meetings.
• Communicates new or revised directives from management to shipping personnel.
• Communicates daily and weekly performance metrics in the absence of the Supervisor.
• Performs all duties of the Supervisor related to the Shipping Department in their absence.
• Initiate and support in the implementation of continuous improvement projects in the Shipping Department.
• Communicates the need for equipment, training and service needs to the Supervisor.
• Provides information to the Supervisor to support performance reviews and disciplinary actions.
• Assists in the scheduling of shipping personnel to ensure shift coverage.
• Assists the Supervisor with the review of quality non-conformances received from the customer.
• Manages time effectively to ensure that all production, quality and delivery schedules are met.
• Oversees all shipping personnel to ensure that all job requirements are being met.
• Provides information to the Customer Service Department on issues involving shipments to customers and provide assessments on impacts to deliveries.
• Reads and understands work order requirements.
• Identifies parts with printed and/or electronic pictures.
• Identifies all commonly used primers and paints.
• Un-racks, unmasks, and solvent-cleans parts, when required, prior to packaging and shipping.
• Packages parts in accordance with Sonaca North America's procedures and work order instructions.
• Applies brush conversion coat, Ferrocote, and primer/paint touch-up.
• Operates pallet jacks and forklift, with appropriate certification.
• Loads and unloads trucks and move crates throughout the facility.
• Operates power hand tools to open and close crates.
• Operates weight scales.
• Completes all part-identification operations and use protective over coating as required.
• Keeps the packaging and shipping areas clean and organized per company Ultraclean/6S requirements.
• Adheres to all safety requirements and enforces compliance.
• Available to work overtime when required (sometimes on short notice), including weekends.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES
• High School diploma or High School Equivalency
• 3 years experience in packaging and shipping
• Ability to read and comprehend American English
• Proficiency in using the Sonaca North America's Work Order Tracking System and the Sonaca North America's SharePoint Site
• Ability to read, understand and interpret special packaging instructions
• Ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Ability to troubleshoot and correct problems
