Shift: 1st Shift 5:30 am to 4:00 pm (4-day work week). Fridays are off!
Salary: $17 to $20 based on experience.
Role Overview:
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk manages material flow within the machine shop, handling both incoming and outgoing shipments.
Responsibilities:
- Receiving Duties:
- Receive incoming shipments, including raw materials, parts, and equipment.
- Inspect deliveries for damages, defects, and discrepancies.
- Match shipping documents (packing slips, purchase orders) to product orders.
- Update inventory records to reflect received items.
- Storage and Distribution:
- Store and organize materials, tools, and products within the shop floor.
- Ensure proper labeling and placement for easy retrieval.
- Distribute materials to relevant departments or workstations as needed.
- Outgoing Shipments:
- Prepare items for shipment, including packaging, labeling, and documentation.
- Coordinate with carriers (trucks, couriers) for timely pickups.
- Schedule and track shipments using appropriate systems (e.g., UPS, FedEx).
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records.
- Conduct periodic stock counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Perform inventory audits.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure that outgoing products meet quality standards.
- Perform visual inspections and verify specifications.
- Report any issues promptly to the relevant personnel.
- Record Keeping:
- Keep detailed records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Maintain organized files for easy retrieval.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with production operators and purchasing.
- Communicate effectively to resolve any shipping-related issues.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Forklift certification or experience preferred.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations preferred.
- Experience working with Excel files, and basic computer skills with shipping websites preferred.
- Familiarity with inventory management software and basic computer skills.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy packages up to 40 lbs. occasionally.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment (standing, bending, reaching).
