Position Summary

As a Shipping and Logistics Manager, you will play a critical role in coordinating and optimizing the movement of goods within our organization's supply chain. You will oversee shipping operations, manage logistics processes, and ensure the timely delivery of products to customers while minimizing costs and maximizing efficiency. Your responsibilities will include managing carrier relationships, optimizing transportation routes, and implementing logistics strategies to meet customer demands and business objectives. This role is required to be onsite at our Itasca, IL facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Shipping Operations:

• Coordinate outbound shipments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products to customers.
• Oversee the preparation of shipping documents, including bills of lading, export/import documentation, and customs clearance paperwork.
• Liaise with carriers and freight forwarders to schedule shipments, negotiate rates, and track deliveries.

Logistics Management:

• Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize transportation routes, minimize shipping costs, and improve delivery times.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and procurement teams to ensure sufficient stock availability to meet customer demands.
• Identify and implement process improvements to streamline logistics operations and enhance efficiency.

Supply Chain Coordination:

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including sales, customer service, and warehouse teams, to coordinate order fulfillment and delivery schedules.
• Communicate proactively with customers regarding order status, shipment tracking, and delivery updates.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations governing transportation, including customs regulations and international trade requirements.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to Shipping and Logistics operations, such as on-time delivery performance, and transportation costs.
• Generate regular reports and analysis to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Present findings and recommendations to senior management to support decision-making and strategic planning.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
• Proven experience in logistics management, shipping operations, or supply chain management.
• Strong understanding of transportation modes, including road, rail, air, and ocean freight.
• Familiarity with shipping regulations, customs procedures, and international trade compliance requirements.
• Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with carriers and suppliers.
• Proficiency in logistics software and systems, such as transportation management systems (TMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to internal and external stakeholders.
