Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) is the tank farm operating contractor at the Hanford Site located in Richland, WA. The WRPS mission is to safely store, retrieve, and treat 56 million gallons of legacy radioactive and hazardous waste. Are you a budding engineer with a passion for problem-solving, and like to be involved with a wide variety of technical topics? We are seeking an enthusiastic Backup Shift Technical Engineer to join our team. Our team provides the 24/7 engineering support necessary to keep us on our mission. This position primarily works the standard 4x10 Monday-Thursday schedule when not filling vacant shifts.
The Back UpShift Technical Engineer's responsibilities include:
- When covering for vacant shifts serve as the Engineering point of contact on a rotating shift (12-hour "DuPont" shift schedule) for all WRPS activities performed outside of the standard Monday-Thursday work shift.
- Monitor and maintain training schedules and time off for other Shift Technical Engineers.
- Provide technical support to the Central Shift Manager (CSM) with the Documented Safety Analysis (DSA), Technical Safety Requirements (TSR), Limiting Conditions for Operation (LCO), Unresolved Safety Questions (USQ), Operability Determinations, Environmental Specification Requirements, and other engineering/technical issues as requested to support continued Operations.
- Monitor operations and maintenance activities and identify or recommend necessary corrective actions to prevent problems that could affect nuclear safety, DSA, Environmental Compliance, and potential work stoppages.
- Provide on-shift engineering "tip of the spear" support for emerging issues by performing an initial engineering analysis and following through to ensure that all concerns have been properly addressed.

Required Qualifications
Grade 15:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering; with
One (1) year of experience
Grade 16:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering; with
Two (2) year of experience
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.
Grade 17:
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering; with
Five (5) year of experience
Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased.
Desired Qualifications
Experience at a nuclear facility (commercial, DOD, or DOE) is preferred.
Previous experience working with the facility safety basis (DSA, TSR).

In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
