YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIESTheShift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the dailyactivities of the second shift at our Houston, TX distribution facility. It isthe responsibility of the Shift Supervisor to ensure that raw materials areoffloaded, received in, packaged and labeled properly, stored, staged, andloaded on trucks. The Shift Supervisor will ensure that the second shiftoperates smoothly and safely while accomplishing all required work each shift.
Description:
- Supervises a crew of up to three employees.
- Performs regular safety checks with crew and ensures safety procedures arefollowed at all times.
- Responsible for shift pass down. Instructing the next staff on shift ofincidents, expected workload etc. Ensuring effective communication between allteam members.
- Responsible for packaging, filling, labeling, and storage ofdrums/totes/bags/supersacks of chemicals or chemical blends.
- Written and oral communication with internal and external contacts.
- Loads and unload trucks.
- Operates a forklift.
- Follow all operating procedures, work instructions and is familiar with thequality system manual.
- Communicates with Customer Service and purchasing on any delays with productshipments, questions on customer orders, etc.
- Responsible for reporting or elevating issues or problems within thewarehouse to the Operations Manager.
- Reports all non-conformances as they occur using proper forms
- Performs duties of dispatch, truck routing, and contacting carriers
- Attends and actively participates in all safety and quality meetings asrequired
- Performs all duties in a safe manner and follow all rules and regulations.
- Completes all training as required in the Regulatory/Compliance TrainingProgram.
- Properly use materials such as labels, placards, stenciling and paint.
- Properly cares for and uses all equipment such as forklifts, drum handlingequipment, pumps, hoses, etc.
- Other duties and assigned by Operations Manager.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required. AssociatesDegree in a related field a plus.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in a chemical manufacturing/distributionor industrial environment required.
- Mustpossess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have a strongleadership ability and be able to work as part of a team.
- Must have goodanalytical, problem solving, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to promotea positive safety culture and lead by example.
- Must possess working knowledgeof chemical labeling, transferring, packaging, handling, and storage.
- Must possess knowledge of DOT, OSHA, DHS, EPA, FRA, ISO, AND HSE regulationsand laws.
- Comfortable with the use of a Forklift and the ability to operateplant equipment.
- Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (i.e.respirators, Tyvek suits, protective boots, hearing protection, eye protectionetc.).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly requiredto use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk,hear, or smell. The employee is frequently required to walk and stand, sit,climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly liftand/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment. Plant environmentand exposure to chemicals.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment drugscreen, fit for duty test, and E-Verify and background check.
