Principal Function
The Monitor provides security and support for the residents in the emergency shelter program. Monitors are accountable for keeping visual observation of the facility and resident needs. They assure that the facility is maintained in a safe, neat and sanitary condition.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Monitor Residents and housing facilities in the Shelter
- Maintain and enforce all safety and security procedures in a respectful manner
- Make sure Residents’’ non-counseling needs are being met
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment
- Explain and monitor policies and procedures established by Helping Hands such as health, sanitation, cleaning and maintenance requirements and facility regulations
- Advise Residents of facility upkeep and program rules and responsibilities
- Demonstrate use and care of the facility and equipment e.g. laundry and common areas to Residents
- Prepare meals for assigned shift
- Clean rooms and prepare beds for incoming clients
- Mediate minor issues and conflicts and report any violations to Case Manager or other assigned staff member
Qualifications:
- High school graduate
- Strong written and communication skills
- At least one year experience working with an at risk population
- 1-2 years of Mental Health Experience preferred
- 2-3 years of Shelter Experience preferred
