Primary responsibilities of all Shelter Staff are to provide reliable uninterrupted on-site 24/7/365 coverage of our emergency shelters. Shelter Staff work as a team to provide case management and advocacy to shelter guests of all ages. Shelter Staff provide crisis intervention, practical support, emotional support and education; engage in recreational activities; maintain shelter security; model healthy relationships and non-violent conflict resolution to peers, volunteers, and shelter guests; and uphold agency policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
· Monitor a team of Shelter Advocates, to ensure completion of tasks and compliance with policies and procedures of the agency as well as compliance with rules and responsibilities of the shelter.
· Responsible for keeping the shelter staffed throughout the week and weekend and providing coverage when needed.
· Participate in regular meetings with supervisory staff, shelter staff and guests.
· Work in conjunction with case management to help complete tasks and achieve goals.
· Monitor and maintain shelter facilities; ensure that shelter is clean and organized, identify and resolve health and safety hazards; stock food and supplies daily.
· Oversee chores and activities of guests.
· Assist with development and implementation of client intake process.
· Prepare and review client files.
· Complete exit paperwork to include exit date and destination of guest upon leaving.
· Maintain certification for HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) in order to enter data as required.
· Meet with guests to answer questions; follow progress of guests and their goals.
· Help guests access services provided by programs in the community.
· Answer and respond to phone calls from guests and others requiring guidance and/or support
· Deescalate situations and settle disagreements.
· Participate in regular ongoing training.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Shelter Program Manager or Director of Operations.
· On Call responsibilities.
