Job description

Starting pay up to $20 per hour.
Overview
Do you have a passion for helping teens realize their full potential? Are you looking to join a committed and collaborative team that strives to show up and provide our best selves and best work? Bethany Children's Home is adding a new program and we're ready to hire for the direct care team!
A Day in the Life
Are you ready to jump in!? You’ll be joining some pretty awesome, dedicated and compassionate Team Members who carry out our mission on a daily basis. You’ll be the role model, mentor and life experience extraordinaire to our youth, who are residing with us on a temporary basis in our new shelter care program. Assisting with all daily living activities, you’ll be helping with meals, educational programming, and providing compassionate structure as part of the shelter care team. This can include, but is not limited to, transporting to off-campus appointments, promoting a safe and healthy environment, modeling life skill development, and other responsibilities as assigned.
The shelter care program is one of the trauma-informed, healing centered programs offered by Bethany. It is designed to provide emergency housing to school-aged youth who are referred primarily through county agencies. Housing, clothing, food, medical services, and educational supports are the primary focus. Other program components include access to educational programming, life skills training and clinical supports, with a primary focus on health and safety and discharge planning. As with all Bethany programs, the shelter care program satisfies all requirements of a specialized setting for those youth at risk for or who are survivors of sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
The Ideal Candidate
You have a minimum of a high school diploma and at least two years of prior experience working with a school-aged population in a school or dependent placement environment. You are knowledgeable in delivering trauma-informed care to others (or are ready and willing to learn!). You're able to communicate effectively by balancing listening and speaking, writing clearly, and influencing others. You're able to demonstrate excellent teamwork skills by being helpful, accountable, respectful and approachable. You seek out learning opportunities and are hungry for more. You’re able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and can easily reprioritize as needs arise.
Full-time candidates seeking 1st shift must be available to work 6:30am to 2:30pm, including every other weekend.
Full-time candidates seeking 2nd shift must be available to work 2:30pm to 10:30pm, including every other weekend.
Full-time candidates seeking 3rd shift must be available to work 10:30pm to 6:30am, including every other weekend.
Bethany does not require that Team Members be vaccinated against COVID-19 or the seasonal flu; however, as a Joint Commission accredited organization, Bethany recommends getting vaccinations according to CDC guidelines and is required to document each Team Member's vaccination status. If you join our Team, you will be given the opportunity to either produce a copy of your vaccination record or sign a declination form if you have chosen to not receive the COVID-19 and/or the seasonal influenza vaccinations.
Why Work for Us?
At Bethany, we believe that every Team Member is essential in creating a safe, supportive environment to walk alongside our youth as they heal. We'll provide you the resources and support to grow as an Ideal Team Player with the tools to best prepare you to serve in a trauma-informed environment. Don't just take our word for it; here's what one of our Team Members recently had to say on social media about his experience as a Bethany Team Member:
"...You all know how much I love my job, but to me, it’s not a job, but a passion. A passion that daily when I come here, along with hundreds of other Team Members, I have a chance to impact young lives for the better and help them to find their very best as they become young adults. I'm proud to be part of this team... that protects and helps our Youth feel safe. There is no better feeling."
Plus, our benefits are pretty amazing! Some highlights include:
  • Zero cost health insurance for all Team Members;
  • Generous PTO plan including more than 4 weeks off in first year;
  • Ten paid holidays per year;
  • Substantial tuition assistance after one (1) year of service; and
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
