JOB SUMMARY:
This incumbent is responsible for the service of beverages and/or food to the guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner, resulting in guest satisfaction. Also to prepare beverages for other servers to supply to guests.
POSITION AUTHORITY:
The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.
POSITION GUIDELINES:
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform all opening and closing duties required of this position
- Monitor every guests’ request
- Knowledgeable of the beverage list and the cash register system procedures
- Knowledgeable of the operational practices of the Garden Restaurant
- Fill out liquor requisition forms properly
- Conduct opening and closing liquor inventory
- Maintain stock, cutting and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily to insure product quality
- Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promoting and documenting drink orders
- Mix, garnish, and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control
- Input orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest to maintain accountability of all beverages served
- Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 1-2 years of prior Fine Dining experience preferred
- Must obtain TABC & Food Handlers Certification prior to beginning work
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Must be reliable and responsible
- Ability to exhibit maturity in the workplace and have a cooperative attitude
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to remain on feet for entire shift
- Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock
- Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 50 pounds
