Shared Service Accountant, Lead

THE ROLE

The Shared Service Accountant is responsible for leading the accounts payable processes, applying cash applications, performing general accounting activities, assisting with the monthly close process, and performing balance sheet reconciliations. The Shared Service Accountant plays an active role on the Accounting and Finance team and has two direct reports.

Accounts Payable (30%)

• Ensures timely and accurate processing and payment of invoices
• Reviews invoices for appropriate documentation, approvals, tax determination and inputs into SAP
• Responds to vendor inquiries
• Manage 1099 clean up, issuance and IRS filing
• Responsible for the ongoing review and clearing of GRIR
• Reviews and ensures on time filing and payment of sales and use taxes and VAT
• Reviews new vendor set ups in SAP

Accounts Receivable (30%)

• Contacts customers with past due invoices to ensure payment is made
• Applies cash receipts and disbursements in SAP
• Reconciles all Company cash accounts

Accounting (20%)

• Prepare the monthly prepaid accounting and journal entry
• Prepare accruals; estimate amounts to accrue, defer, reverse or change based upon historical data and knowledge of business
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for assigned critical accounts
• Backup to Shared Service team to ensure proper staffing needs are met and to enable achievement of department goals
• Ensure consistency in transaction processing across all entities

Leadership (15%)

• Support company policies and procedures as a member of management for all employees. Present a professional image as a representative of the company.  Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with co-workers, and every level of management
• Creates an environment focused on continuous improvement, collaboration across functions, trust, and empowerment.  Provide leadership for the accounting staff by establishing organization and also with effective communication

Environmental, Health & Safety Leadership (5%)

• Operates safely within NatureWorks policies, procedures and governmental regulations and fully participates in and champions NatureWorks Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Programs

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

 Required:

• Associate's Degree in Accounting
• Five or more (5+) years experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting
• Strong proficiency in MS Excel

Nice to have:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• One or more (1+) years experience supervising or managing direct reports
• Prior SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems experience
