The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a potential need for an SFMS3 Course SOF MedicalInstructor/Technical Writer/Training Developer to support our Department of Defense (DoD) customer located at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Some CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct National Registry Emergency Technician Basic (B) and Paramedic (P) Courses, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and provide curriculum course development and recommendations.
- Provide course changes requiring Program of Instruction (POI) updates, rewrites and / or re-designs outside the capability, scope, and contractually permitted hours of existing JSOMTC staff.
- Assist in training development and enter all required documents and information into the Training Development Capability (TDC) Database and any other systems or databases requiring course updates for USASOC and TRADOC.
- Provide medical instruction and medical instruction writing support in all the Special Operations Forces (SOF) Medical Skills Sustainment Course (SOCMSSC) and Special Operations Combat Medic (SOCM) /Special Forces Medic Sergeant (SFMS) Courses, and Special Forces Medical Sergeant Skills Sustainment Course (SFMS3) offered by JSOMTC.
- Train and qualify selected noncommissioned officers in the basic skills and knowledge required to perform duties as a medical sergeant on a Special Forces A detachment, as a Special Operations Independent Duty Corpsman for Naval Special Warfare Command (NAVSPECWARCOM), or as a Special Operations Combat Medic for USASOC, NAVSPECWARCOM, Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), or Marine Corp Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC).
- Training Instruction in advanced medical procedures, trauma management, surgical procedures, management of tropical medicine, and emergency dental care.
- Train utilizing the current approved Programs of Instruction (POI) and lesson plans.
- Present training in areas that provide a combination of operational medicine and trauma, including but not limited to: basic physical exam techniques, medical patient assessment, medical documentation, combat casualty care, live tissue training, pre-hospital trauma emergencies and care, Anatomy, Physiology, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Education for Pre-Hospital Professionals (PEPP), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).
- The schedule may vary at any time, even frequently and with short notice to require instructors to be present to work a compressed work schedule for longer workdays, not to exceed 16 hours in any one day.
- May be required to participate in periodic weekend and evening blocks of training, or specialized training/field training in an austere environment. Duty on a Saturday or Sunday may also occasionally be required but no instructor shall be required more than 25 weekend days per year.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- Must be a SOCM-graduate, held a grade no less than Sergeant; or a Special Operations Combat Medic; or as an instructor in a USSOCOM medical pipeline course.
- Must be an 18 D or SOIDC Graduate.
- Must be an SFMS Graduate.
- Complete an approved Instructor Trainer Course and Instructor Developer Course provided by the Government during work hours.
- REMT/or ATP Certified EMT-P
- All instructors shall possess current certifications in the following:
- Basic Life Support Instructor (BLS-I).
- Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor (ACLS-I).
- Pediatric Education for Pre-Hospital Professionals (PEPP) Instructor.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Certification. (AHA certification must be accomplished within 6 weeks of hiring.)
- Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic EMT-P, certified IAW NREMT or IAW a U.S. jurisdiction or IAW USSOCOM Advanced Tactical Practitioner (ATP) requirements.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Three (3) years as an Emergency Medical Instructor.
- Three (3) years on an ODA, MSOT, SWCC, SEAL Platoon.
- ATP Cardholder.
- Ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS to attend meetings, conferences, provide instruction and attend Government training.
- Ability to use the following programs expertly enough to accomplish all of the required tasks without further training:
- Microsoft Windows OS XP Pro
- Microsoft Word ™
- Power Point ™
- Excel ™
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
- Must be U.S. Citizen
- Must hold Active Secret Clearance
