Responsible for setting up and operating assigned CNC equipment to produce quality parts in accordance with blueprints, procedural specifications, quality, and productivity standards. Maintains quality of machined parts by performing quality set-ups and checks, and by completing required documentation. Position requires a high regard for safety and ISO at all times.
Works safely and supports safety within their team across the organization – as required.
Participates in safety training and demonstrates a high regard for safety at all times.
Wears Personal Protective Equipment as required by safety regulations.
Performs Machining Operations
Operates assigned machines to produce quality parts without assistance or supervision. Pulls orders and performs computer clock-in on each order.
Accesses prints in computer files with specific instructions for each order. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining. Verifies conformance of finished part to specifications.
Makes sure equipment is in good, safe working operation. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
Communicates pertinent information to coworkers and supervisor.
Maintains Quality
Continuously checks tooling and machining operations to assure both are performing and producing parts to standard. Calls set-Up Operator if change of tooling or set-up modifications are necessary.
Performs in-process inspections per Quality and Machine Shop procedures.
Completes Documentation
Completes shop order paperwork, quality inspection documentation, and Time and Labor card.
Documents Preventative Maintenance checks.
Enters production and disposition of scrap into computer system.
Completes and records inspections on the Patrol Inspection Log following tooling and set-up change.
Supports Department and Company Initiatives
Works on cost savings projects and Six Sigma projects and provides support for other team meetings and projects.
Attends team meetings. Utilizes lean tools: 6S, visual factory concepts in maintaining order and cleanliness.
Education and/or Experience
Required - Machining knowledge. 2 or more years of related work experience and High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess basic computer skills and ability.
Preferred – Associate’s Degree in Technical Studies.
