Position Description
Job Purpose:
Washes and fuels all revenue vehicles in conjunction with First Transit’s Maintenance Department: dispenses fuel, stocks required supplies and equipment. Washes vehicles using a power washer and brushes. Responsible for washing and detailing the inside of vehicles to First Transit and client standards. Assists drivers in parking, and coordinates the flow of buses to ensure safe operation. Performs light maintenance as necessary to buildings and grounds.
Major
Responsibilities:
List in order of
importance
1)
Assures that all vehicles are cleaned, fueled, and ready for morning roll-out.
2)
Takes vehicles to the fuel station, as needed.
3)
Keeps an accurate record of vehicles washed/serviced
4)
Uses a pressure washer, brushes, and other equipment to clean the exterior of the vehicle
5)
Details and cleans the interior of the vehicle to maintain First Transit and client standards.
6)
Inspects all buses during fueling or on a regularly scheduled basis for physical damage. Any damage will be reported immediately to the Contract Manager or designee
7)
Notifies Maintenance Manager of supply shortages, and re-stocks supplies as required.
8)
In the event of a fuel spill, takes all necessary steps to contain the spill. The Contract Manager or designee must be notified immediately.
9)
Maintains adequate inventories and supplies to make minor repairs and facilitate the washing of buses.
10)
Performs light interior and exterior maintenance on building as required. This includes but is not limited to emptying trash, cleaning facility bathrooms, vacuuming offices, clearing snow/ice build-up from walkways and doorways, salting the exterior walkways,
11)
Picks up and delivers parts and buses as needed.
12)
Follows all safety standards and guidelines, including but not limited to: (1) The wearing of Safety Glasses, (2) The wearing of steel-toed safety shoes, (3) Safety gloves as needed, (4) Proper attire.
13)
Performs any other management requests or directives as requested.

Minimum Education & Certifications Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience & Skills Required:
- Knowledge of bus maintenance.
- Ability to ensure safety.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions (include amount of travel):
The position requires the employee to work outdoors in varying, seasonal weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 20 lb on a regular basis. Ability to use a power washer. Uses of fingers and hands to clean exterior and interior of vehicles. Frequent repetitive arm and hand motion while cleaning and detailing vehicles. Exposure to diesel and gasoline fumes during fueling. Exposure to diesel and gasoline exhaust on a regular basis. Exposure to chemicals used for cleaning and lubrication. Exposure to loud engine noises.
