Position Summary:
Greet all guests and guide them to their seat. Responsible for providing food and beverage service to all guests, while following local health department standards, HGI standards, Suburban Inns’ core values, as well as going above and beyond to ensure guest satisfaction.
Essential Functions:
- Report to work in uniform presented professionally, neat and clean
- Greet all guests in a friendly, positive manner. Ask questions of guests and make personal connections to make them feel they are welcome and valued
- Anticipate and meet the needs and expectations of our guests, then go one step further
- Maintain knowledge of menu items (ingredients, preparation, and plate presentation), as well as table settings and serviceware; including differences in buffet and plated service
- Operation of restaurant computer system (POS) for entering food/drink orders, printing and settling (payment) of guest checks
- Knowledge of HGI standards regarding food & beverage benefits for Hilton Honors guests and other HGI brand initiatives
- Check section assignment if multiple servers are scheduled
- Inspect sections prior to breakfast/dinner service (wipe tables, clean window sills, clean table bases, wipe chairs, clean and fill salt & pepper shakers, clean floor)
- Setup and breakdown of lobby coffee and water stations, restocking and keeping clean
- Setup and breakdown of self-serve food areas, restocking and keeping clean
- Roll breakfast/dinner tableware
- Deliver room service or to-go orders to guests upon request, and on occasion, assist bartender with taking room service or to-go orders as needed
- Obtain orders from seated guests ensuring accuracy, entering and delivering orders in a timely manner, staying in communication with guest, kitchen staff, and Supervisor if needed
- Communicating guest requests (allergies, substitutions, etc.) to Supervisor and kitchen staff
- Ensure all guests ordering alcoholic beverages have proper ID verifying they are over 21 years of age, and that drinks are not served to intoxicated patrons following TIPS/ServSafe guidelines
- Complies with local/state food safety/sanitation rules and regulations at all times, reporting to supervisor any concerns
- Report needed repairs or unsafe conditions to supervisor
- Verify accuracy of the bill, and present to the guest
- Handle all cash, credit card, and room charges as prescribed by standard operating procedures, performing proper and balanced end of shift paperwork and shift cash deposit
- Advise supervisor of any complaints as soon as possible, but also follow the One More Step guideline by taking charge of the issue and offering solutions
- Complete assigned shift duties and side work
- Clean and clear tables as needed
- Run food and help others when able
- Complete closing shift work
- Exhibit regular and recurrent attendance records
- Other duties as requested by management
Position Requirements:
Minimum Knowledge: Requires ability to interpret / extract information and / or perform arithmetic functions. Ability to operate restaurant computer system
Good communication skills:
Formal Education and Job-Related Experience: TIPS or ServSafe Certification preferred

Required Travel: Position does not require travel to other Suburban Inns properties or client locations. Work is completed on the property
Uniform and Appearance Guidelines:
Uniform and Appearance Guidelines: Uniform shirt and name tag provided. Suburban Inns approved black slacks or Dockers (no yoga-style) and black, close-toed, non-slip shoes are the responsibility of the Team Member.
Appearance: Visible earrings are allowed in the ears only, or must be covered throughout the course of the shift. Hair must be kept well-groomed. This policy will be administered by the position’s supervisor, without regard to race, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability, height, weight, genetics, familial status, veteran status, and other protected characteristics. The Director of Operations has the authority to veto any decision made by the position’s supervisor
