The Sensory Technologist provides day-to-day support to Product Guidance Strategists. This person will interact with external partners and cross-functional team members on a variety of projects.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Design and manage test logistics, which include vendor contacts, product preparation planning, test questionnaire preparation, identification of food safety/allergy issues, and tasting products.
- Coordination and reporting of discrimination tests.
- Actively participate in team tastings, helping to guide teams in sensory best tasting practices and provide actionable feedback.
- Proactively work with teams to ensure compliance to test project deadlines.
- Attend consumer test sites, as needed, to ensure compliance with test protocol and flawless test execution.
- Facilitate consumer interactions, which could include one-on-one consumer interviews, qualitative peel offs, online discussion groups, etc.
- Demonstrate agility by supporting all types of cross-functional needs as ITQ business dictates
- Track and report monthly product test budget status; work to ensure and advocate for efficient use of testing dollars and constructively pushback on testing when appropriate
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum high school diploma with 3+ years in project coordination, sensory support or other related work experiences OR Bachelors Degree in Food Science or Sensory Sciences.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects at a given time with minimal guidance.
- Ability to apply sensory best practices to test design and encourage team adherence to tasting and test best practices.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills, independent decision making, high attention to detail, and service orientation are essential.
- Good understanding of Consumer First Design principles and how to apply them
- Familiarly with statistical terminology (e.g. standard deviation, mean score, etc.) and willingness to learn application of statistical concepts, design of experiments, and calculations.
- Proficient computer skills desirable - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and willingness to learn PLM, Coupa, and Concur
- Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a global environment
- Strong organizational and leadership skills, independent decision making, strong attention to detail, and service orientation are essential
- Critical thinking and technical skills to meet the demands of day-to-day operations, problem solve, experiment and make data-based recommendations.
- Track record as a strong team player with collaboration skills

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $48400.00 - $66700.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role.
