This position is located in a transitional living facility for youth ages 16-20 who are experiencing homelessness. Youth residents participate in programming, with a focus on self-sufficiency and gaining the skills and tools necessary to move successfully into independent living. Staff develop positive, trusting relationships with residents, to assist in each youth's stability and growth.
Your role as a Senior Youth Worker is to assist in the case management process working one-to-one with youth, and to oversee an environment with ten residents. You will supervise and counsel the youth, providing guidance, encouragement, comfort, and safety. You will also teach and assist youth with learning and completing routine daily functions such as cooking, cleaning, and other household management skills. Other duties include maintaining up-to-date and confidential case files, completing daily record-keeping requirements, and participating in youth meetings or groups as needed.

- Experience considered (any or all of the following): Personal knowledge and/or lived experience of homelessness or housing instability; Personal knowledge and/or lived experience with youth experiencing trauma; Paid or unpaid experience assisting/supporting youth who are homeless, at-risk, and/or experiencing trauma or other life-altering difficulties; Paid, unpaid, or lived experience supporting diversity, inclusion, and equity.
- Education considered (preferred but not required): bachelor's degree or college courses in Social Work or related field.
- Effective working knowledge of positive youth development, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care preferred.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must be able to pass a DHS level background check.
- Must be able to pass a driver’s eligibility check.
- Training and competency in the following areas (full training after hire): Blood Borne Pathogens; Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI); Mandated Reporting for Children and Vulnerable Adults; CPR & FA for infants, children, and Adults; Emergency policies and procedures; Suicide prevention; Gender-based needs; LGBTQ needs and resources; Human Trafficking; Other topics.
- Willing and able to work afternoons, evenings, overnights, and week-end shifts.
