Job Summary:
The Senior Windows Systems Engineer develops, implements, supports, manages, reports, and monitors our customers’ Enterprise IT environment(s), leveraging CDA’s experience, technical knowledge, and broad Enterprise IT expertise. The Senior Windows Systems Engineer is responsible for providing consulting, reactive, proactive, and preventative services for Enterprise IT solutions including serving as a trusted advisor who understands the customer’s environment and work as an extension of the customer’s IT professional team.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues in an Enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Assist teammates with solving complex technical issues.
  • On an ongoing basis, obtain industry technical certifications that further your IT skillset.
  • Mentor other teammates with learning key technical concepts around Enterprise architecture and technologies including areas such as server virtualization, network/systems architectures, systems integrations, and other relevant technologies
  • Possess the soft skills to be able to defuse a tense/sensitive situation, while still being able to act firmly if/when necessary.
  • Demonstrate the desire and ability to continue learning new concepts and remain up to date on the most recent technologies, particularly those related to Enterprise IT technologies.
  • Develop, deploy, install, configure, and maintain Enterprise IT technology solutions for customer environments.
  • Design, deploy, and configure Windows Server environments using SCCM or MECM, Intune or JAMF.

The primary role of the Senior Windows Systems Engineer is to provide our customers with one or more of the following services:

  • Incident management – Troubleshoot and resolve incidents received from the customer (in alignment with SLA’s) and/or that were created to address alerts from a monitoring system.
  • Change management – Attend weekly customer change review board meetings, write/submit change tickets, perform changes during customer change windows (typically after-hours).
  • Problem management – Analyze customer’s incident history to determine if any trends/patterns represent an underlying problem, and if so, work with customer to initiate an effort to address the problem.
  • Event management – Investigate alerts received from a monitoring system and determine proper actions to address the alerts.
  • Request fulfillment – Fulfill IT system service requests received from the customer.
  • Environment management – Functions include managing/administering Enterprise IT technologies and components within the development, test, and/or production environments, updating environment documentation, applying approved patches and/or software updates to environment components, assessing the health of and making recommendations to optimize platforms, and providing environmental development and improvement thought leadership.
  • Reporting – Develop and deliver ad-hoc and regularly scheduled reports containing metrics and other information per the customer’s requirements.
  • Ticket management - Maintain accurate and timely ticketing system data (e.g., detailed ticket notes, accurate ticket status, following up on tickets to avoid excessive ticket aging, etc.).
  • Monitoring - Configure and manage the monitoring solution for Enterprise IT and related ancillary technologies, including helping to establish baselines and adjusting threshold values as needed.
  • Analysis - Analyze monitoring metrics and alerts to identify patterns/trends, make correlations, and provide actionable information.
  • Development – Develop software code/scripts to automate IT processes and/or integrate IT technologies.
  • Consulting: Collaborate with clients to understand their unique needs and recommend strategic IT solutions.
  • Implementation: Design, deploy, and configure Windows Server environments to meet client requirements.
  • Support: Provide proactive and reactive support for the customer environments.
  • Management: Manage systems, security controls, and system resources for efficient IT operations.
  • Reporting: Generate detailed reports on system health, compliance, and performance for ongoing optimization.

Service Management (e.g., Jira Service Desk, ServiceNow)
Microsoft directory services (e.g., LDAP, Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy)
Server OS (e.g., Windows Server, UNIX/Linux)
Basic Networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, Routing, Networking, DHCP)
Relational Databases (e.g., MS SQL, Postgres)
Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM)
System Center Configuration manager (SCCM)
System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)
Microsoft Intune
JAMF
Enterprise Storage (NetApp, Hitachi, Pure, EMC, Dell)
Storage Area Networking
Network Storage Systems (CIFS, SMB, DFS, NFS)
Enterprise Backup and Recovery (Rubrik, etc…)

  • Microsoft foundation certification preferred, Citrix and Ivanti certifications a plus.
  • Must be able to work at least 40-hours Monday through Friday. Typical working hours would be within your local time zone or customer’s time zone. In addition, you must be flexible to accommodate customer change control windows during off hours, nights, and weekends as needed. Hours of operation are 8:00 am to 5:00 PM CST.
  • Ability to participate in after-hours on-call rotation.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
  • Must be willing to relocate to TX.

Requirements: Education/Experience

  • Obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university in fields like Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or possess an equivalent of 5-10 years of relevant job experience.
  • Demonstrated 5-10 years of experience in IT automation and/or IT operations.
  • Holds certifications in various Enterprise technologies, IT Operations, and IT Service Management domains, including but not limited to Security+, Network+, Linux+, Splunk, Citrix, VMware, Ivanti, etc.
