Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking an exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individual with an expertise in the field and a keen interest in helping to grow a local team of restoration/Water Resources staff, providing senior level technical review, and support restoration/nature-based solution/stormwater projects across North America.   Our current team includes specialists in wetland science, wildlife biology, geomorphology, soil science, fisheries biology, engineering, botany, hydrology, forestry, habitat restoration, marine biology, environmental permitting, GIS and surveying.  Qualified candidates should possess a degree in Engineering and have expert level experience with assessing and designing restoration/nature-based solution/stormwater projects by incorporating natural processes into the designs.    Duties entail working on naturalized habitats, rivers/streams, urban waterways, wetlands, greenways, and green infrastructure in an interdisciplinary team environment. 

Location: Stantec office in Austin

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Contributing to and leading business development activities, including proposals, pre-qualifications, and relationship building with clients and prospective clients

  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects, as well as perform reviews of work performed by others to ensure accuracy and completeness, standard of care, and compliance with standard practices.

  • Provide industry leadership through professional organizations including publishing papers and presentations, and elevating Stantec's brand in the Water Resource Sector.

  • Support the growth of our local restoration/Water Resources team.

  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships, including seeking opportunities for new business and growing key accounts.

  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the technical aspects of assigned projects.

  • Providing supervision, training, technical direction and mentoring to junior and intermediate level staff.

  • Collaborate with and advise other team members while working on projects.

  • Responsible for preparing plans and reports, writing proposals, budget monitoring and trend tracking.

  • Ensures effective communication and coordination on projects between other project participants, including biologists, landscape architects, engineers, environmental scientist, contractors, and clients.

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

  • Support and ensure implementation of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work and coordinate with HSE professionals during the execution of all phases of project planning and implementation.

  • This position works as part of larger environmental services and water teams and there will be opportunities to support multiple Stantec offices.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Have existing relationships at the senior level of the target client base.

  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and be customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to client's business needs.

  • Must have ability and desire to travel throughout the US for project work and business development activities.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

  • Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

  • Working understanding of policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training (as required).

  • Project and task management experience with strong attention to detail.

  • Builds and maintains productive professional and personal networking relationships within their technical team and Business Center.

  • Good driving record and valid driver's license required. 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or higher (preferred) in engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum of twenty years of related work experience in civil engineering design, with an emphasis on Water Resource projects (river restoration, geomorphology, dam and barrier removal, levees, flood control structures, nature-based solutions, green infrastructure, and stormwater management) 

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
