For nearly four decades, Cirrus Logic has been propelled by the top engineers in mixed-signal processing. Our rockstar team thrives on solving complex challenges with innovative end-user solutions for the world's top consumer brands. Cirrus Logic is also known for an award-winning culture, which was built on a foundation of inclusion and fairness, meaningful community engagement and delivering enjoyable employee experiences at every turn. But we couldn't do it without our extraordinary workforce – and that's where you come in. Join our team and help us continue to make Cirrus Logic an exceptional place to grow your career!
As part of the validation organization, you will be a valued member of the pre-silicon emulation/post-silicon validation team focused on bringing leading edge Mixed Signal processing, Battery chargers and power management ICs to market. Our high-performance chips enable an incredible mixed-signal experience with highly-integrated, platform-level functionality while delivering lowest power consumption and highest efficiency.
As a Senior Validation Engineer, you will work closely with our cross-functional teams and will report project status/progress to program management on a regular basis. You will have the opportunity to, and responsibility for, leading, mentoring, and providing technical guidance to other engineering team members. In this role, you can leverage your experience and industry knowledge to architect and drive implementation of continuous improvements to validation infrastructure and processes.
Responsibilities- Develop validation plans for IP and chip-level test cases from datasheets and in consultation with design and systems engineers
- Participate in chip design and architecture reviews and recommend Design-for-Validation (DFV) hooks to improve validation coverage
- Design FPGA emulation and silicon validation board schematics. Work with layout engineers to review board layouts before being released for fabrication
- Develop software framework and scripts in Python to automate validation and regression test suites. Bring-up regression and validation platforms
- Execute tests on the lab bench per the validation plan during pre-silicon and post-silicon phases of the product to ensure functionality and performance as per system requirements. Expand test and regression coverage across multiple products and firmware releases
- Provide guidance and correlation to other product groups within the organization
- Review and contribute to ATE test strategy as well as review hardware designs. Assist in debug of ATE test issues as applicable using lab bench setups, including ATE to Bench correlation
- Analyze test results and identify issues using tools such as Spotfire or JMP
- BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of experience in a related field -or- MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 3+ years of experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in specialized areas such as FPGA-based emulation, pre-and/or post-silicon validation, mixed-signal IP block design/validation, audio-related signal processing and algorithm, validation-related automation framework
- Expertise in validation automation and scripting/programming languages such as C, Python or similar
- Hands-on experience in lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, audio analyzers, logic analyzers, power analyzers, and spectrum analyzers for measurement and debugging issues
- Advanced electrical engineering knowledge in analog, digital, power electronics or audio engineering. This includes mixed-signal building blocks such as ADCs, DACs, PLLs, amplifiers, LDOs, SMPSs, signal processing and measurement, IC control/communication protocols
- Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are highly valued as you will need to understand silicon, board, and software interactions
- Experience in various automation framework hardware tools (FPGA, DSP, NI Data Acquisition) or software tools/languages
- Demonstrated aptitude in system understanding of various industry interface standards such as I2C, SPI, USB, I2S, TDM or high-speed control/data bus as examples
- High-power validation and lab experience testing switch-mode power supplies (SMPS)
- Expertise in PCB design, and layout with attention to signal integrity and thermal considerations.
- Mixed-signal test theory and knowledge (Nyquist theorem, oversampling, aliasing, etc.)
- Ability to think beyond the datasheet and around design corners to find elusive bugs. Able to think of test cases and customer usage models that may violate the assumptions of designers and systems engineers
