Position Details:
The Senior User Experience Designer uses interaction design and research skills to design Grainger's customer experiences and internal tools by aligning customer, user, and business goals into simple, intuitive experiences. You will report to the Director, UX Design. Some travel will be required for team meetings at our corporate offices, field observations, and meetings with users. We are open to hybrid or remote work. Our corporate offices are in Lake Forest, IL, and Chicago, IL.
Pay:
This position is salaried and will pay between $111,180 to $170,340 with a 10% Annual Bonus.

You Will:
- Work with Product Managers, Engineers, UI Designers, and UX Researchers to define and create useful and usable solutions for customer and employee facing Grainger digital products.
- Create early-stage concepts to facilitate discussion, feedback, and agreement.
- Translate requirements and user needs into tangible interaction designs through detailed user flows and annotated wireframes.
- Evaluate current experiences and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Communicate design decisions, rationale, and direction when presenting work.
- Develop detailed documentation for design standards and patterns for our design systems.
- Conduct user research, user testing, and secondary research.
You Have:
- Formal education in Human Centered Design, Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Product Design, or related field.
- 3+ years of UX experience working with an agile product team.
- An understanding of design, usability, accessibility, and research best practices.
- Experience designing for complex processes and contributing to a pattern library or design system.
- Proficiency in common wireframing tools such as Figma.
- Work samples that show how you broke down complexity, empathized with the user, and balanced user needs, our needs, and technical considerations.
