Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform a wide rage of skilled labor intensive work in the maintenance and repair of City water treatment, collection, and reuse facilities. Troubleshooting, diagnostic skills, assess and determine parts for repairs and installation. Performs construction field inspections for the lift stations rehabilitation program. Monitors the SCADA system installed in all sewer lift stations. Accountable for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of water facilities and equipment. Employee works with independence, however, confers with the Utilities Superintendent in unusual or highly complex operational repairs or construction projects.
- Performs routine to complex repairs, replacement tasks and construction projects to water treatment, collection, and collection facilities and equipment.
- Cleans, inspects and maintains lift stations and wastewater facilities and equipment, e.g., removes grease; lubricates motors and equipment, replaces packing in pumps and valves, replaces wiring and bearings in motors and pumps.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance of mechanical collection and conveyance systems and electrical systems.
- Performs inspection of facilities and equipment to identify existing or potential problems; serves as field inspector assisting the engineering division with capital improvement projects performing construction field inspections for the lift stations rehabilitation program; informs Utilities Superintendent of breakdown or obstruction.
- Monitors SCADA system in all wastewater lift station to prevent sewage overflows and spills.
- Attend pre-construction and construction progress meeting to provide feedback of the field inspections for the lift stations rehabilitation program.
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools for both electrical and mechanical repairs, e.g., air wrenches, air hammer, electric drill, saw, air compressor.
- Assists in the development and integration of Utilities policies and procedures for operational enhancement.
- Maintains various mechanical maintenance and repair records and logs.
- Provides 24-hour on-call emergency availability.
- High School Diploma or GED;.
- Vocational training/certification with major coursework in electrical, mechanical and/or pluming.
- 5 years of responsible experience in the skilled labor of Utilities maintenance and repair; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must possess valid Florida Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record.
- Waste Water Class B and C License. Wastewater collection Class B certification; OSHA 10 Construction Safety and Health Certification required.
- Preferred Confined Space Entry Certification and Wastewater Collection Class A Certification.
